Projector Issues

Syw

Well friend it is not possible to be patient keeping in mind that it is already 12 days that i have made the payment to SYW, and yet they are not able to place the order with visual.

If there will be no choice then i will have to order with amazon, the core issue is that i would like to deal with visual because members have dealt with them, it is any day better to deal with a known good devil.

V.

vinay, I think you need to be patient here. If visual is not able to provide PJ then order through Amazon using your already sent money to SYW.

Breaking News - SYW

Well there is a news just breaking in that visual has once again not accepted the payment offered by SYW, over which i have my reservations as said in earlier posts.

So to expedite the matter SYW has offered me to order from amazon, they have provided the following link.

Amazon.com: Used and New: Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8350 (V11H373120)

The seller is Electronic Expo.

As usual i want the help from members should i order or no from the seller and any suggestions or precautions etc which i should undertake. I need to take a call quickly so please do write in detail, this matter needs a burial, the body is stinking.

V.

Vinay in Amazon the price for 8350 is higher. If they are delivering via Amazon for same price you should be ok...

I would have preferred to order directly from Amazon as they are really professionals..

Vinay my advice is to have them order from Amazon directly (unfortunately amazon shows out of stock). When ever I have ordered stuff from Amazon in the past I made sure that Amazon was the seller. Reason is simple - it is easier to deal with Amazon than a third party (and in your case if you go with an amazon vendor there will be 2 parties between amazon (the seller)and the buyer (you) so you can imagine the nightmare in communication should something go wrong. Anyways maybe other members have had experience with ordering from Amazon vendors - so hopefully they chip in. If you were in the US and were ordering from Amazon through their vendor it would have been fine but sitting here in India and dealing with SYW - which has to deal with an Amazon vendor would be a different story entirely.
Cheers
Sid

Amazon

Hello Sid,

Well this is the power of forum members, quite a tip by you and reju, that the best way is to get from amazon as seller, since they are not having stock, is there a way to find out when they will get the stock, for example if you log in, and take it in cart, at that time will it show the probable shipping date? If yes, then please do this for me and check as i do not have account with amazon or alternatively a e-mail to them will help?

On the other hand i am waiting for other members to give their view for this new amazon lake. I would this time prefer to take more precautions.

At the moment Amazon is selling from 3rd party. Amazon mentions:
In Stock. Ships from and sold by "Electronics Expo".

So I can still buy this from Amazon and have it shipped to US address.

It is very uncertain when Amazon will have own stock. They can have it today or even after a week...

Vinay - this is the message I get when I try to buy directly from Amazon (attached below in red). Unfortunately there is no indication of any date - my assumption is that it is a popular item and due to christmas rush it is not available - and it appears that even the US customers prefer buying directly from Amazon - hence they are out of stock.
At this point I am not sure what to advise you - but one option is to buy from their vendor and assume any risks
or
cancel your order with SYW and monitor amazon till stock are available and reorder from SYW at that time.

Sold by Amazon.com
Temporarily out of stock. Order now and we'll deliver when available. We'll e-mail you with an estimated delivery date as soon as we have more information. Your account will only be charged when we ship the item.
Domestic shipping rates and return policy.

Aamazon

So reju, which could be the other ways to find out when amazon will have stock, though if amazon can ship in a week's time, i will prefer to wait.

On the other hand ratings of "Electronic Expo" is excellent while again visual is also listed as a seller.

If we are buying from expo etc, then we will be provided with their e-mail address and contact details for follow up? While which other information we will have, something like tracking the shipment, etc.

V.

Vinay, my view is the same as Reju's. Tell SYW to get the projector from amazon or anywhere as long as the projector is a new box piece and you don't have to pay anymore. Ask them to give you a new timeframe and ask them to stick to it. This option is suggested because amazon(shop) does not have stock.

Hi vinay!

Am replying to your PM.

1. Purchase online
Unfortunately, till now I have not ordered electronics through Amazon. Electronics have been directly from seller to borderlinx and onwards to me. Borderlinx may seem expensive but they have a till now maintained a minimum standard of service.

there are 3 kinds of purchases possible from amazon - direct; third party with fulfilment by amazon and third party with their own fulfilment. I have used all three and have been quite happy. Amazon tends to be stricter with third party and they typically are very sensitive to adverse comments on their "storefront" so you should not have any problem.

2. Importing a projector
on projector purchase on it's own, given that their are electro-mechanical in nature - i have had the same doubts that you did. the biggest worry is DOA or damage in transit. the second biggest worry is lamp life (i know one case where a person's projector bulb failed in 800hrs, pointing to pre-user before sale)

that's why, when I purchased my first projector from the US in the early part of this decade, I had it delivered to someone, who checked it before hand carrying it to india (in carry on baggage).

My second projector, after weighing all pros and cons, I purchased in India, and paid a 50% premium on the US list price in order to get the 2 year waranty and the lamp 90 day waranty.

for whatever it's worth, I hope it helps.

I have no comments to offer on shop your world since I have never used them. given your experience so far, I do not think I ever will, either.

Amazon does not deliver Epson 8350 to India. So you will have to ship to US address only. And its costs $1300 at the moment.

If SYW does not arrange immediate delivery from Amazon or other source, I think you should cancel this order and ask for immediate refund.

If you have somebody coming from US, order from Amazon or try some other souces.
Good luck!

Heading For A Final Call

Well guys thank you very much for the in-puts i have just finished sending a e-mail to SYW saying that they can go ahead and buy projector from the seller's link which they have provided a/c amazon as long as the projector is a new box piece and i don't have to pay anymore in any respect for delivery right at my door, and i require a time frame.

I have also told them that If they have any suggestions i will like to hear them and i have made up my self clear to them that i will not take any more crap, even if that means cancelling the order and having the money in my account by Monday morning.

I have requested them to reply in a hour or so, as i can not go on in-definitely with this matter.

1. First of all I do not understand the obsession with ordering from 'Visual Apex' only.
2. Amazon is one of the most popular, reputed and largest online retailers in the world.
3. Even 'Visual Apex' does not have the projector in stock right now. Estimated date for arrival is December 13 - 17.
4. Ironically, you can order from 'Visual Apex' thru the Amazon Marketplace --> Amazon.com: Used and New: Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8350 (V11H373120)

Bottom line, is that you have paid 'SYW' and it is their responsibility to deliver the projector to you, irrespective of where they source it from. Having said that, since you are comfortable ordering with 'Visual Apex', then ask 'SYW' to source it from 'Visual Apex' thru Amazon. Although, I must point out that 'Electronics Expo' too seems to be a reliable seller based on the 96% positive rating over the past 12 months. (124,689 total ratings).

Amazon

Well sanjay thanks for the detailed post.

My only reason to order from visual was because santosh had ordered from them and was happy with their supply, so i was trying to deal with a known firm.

Indeed amazon is the most popular and i also would have dealt only with them but they were not offering the features which SYW was offering.

Well that is news, i also never knew that now visual is not having stock. I also saw visual listed at amazon, so i should consider from them but never mind since i have now agreed with electronic expo, indeed it is great that they have a 96% rating.

Revival

Well guys there is a pleasant breaking news that SYW has ordered 45 minutes ago the projector 8350 from seller's link which they have provided a/c amazon and they have assured that it will be a new box piece and i don't have to pay anymore in any respect for delivery right at my door.

Amazon.com: Used and New: Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8350 (V11H373120)

Thank you very much guys for helping me in getting the projector out from ventilator.

Congrats Vinay ,it was a long wait for you.

Kapvin,

Well you have said the right word "agni parikshas" that too for a first timer.

It is because of the members and power of this forum that the projector survived.

Online Stores

Well sid, you and others have given me a great idea to take from amazon and have it delivered locally on foreign soil, this will be fine with me as i have someone or the other once a year, who is travelling so i can time my purchase accordingly.

While sid you are giving very important tips that amazon replaced the items to you when they were not in order, so that is beyond great and it is nice to know that you also had great experience with visual on repeat basis, so this way we know who are for sure good organizations.

I think amazon must be working over time to handle shipment to India on door delivery basis, they will get flood of orders as money spending power is growing here and from the stores here things are getting difficult often in terms of price and old models.

And I bought my projector from visualapex because a hfv member had bought from them and recommended to me:).

The main reason why I did not buy from amazon then was because I was getting the projector through kmd(a dealer similar to SYW) and he operated from NY. Problem was that if I bought from amazon, it would be shipped from amazon's center in NY and I would have to pay NY tax extra. Only NY and one other state in the US have this tax if shipped within the state. So I bought from visualapex as it is in WA..... shipped to NY and saved almost $85 on the projector.
