Projector Issues

Re: SYW Heading For A Delay

Well santosh i have not done a deep thinking if something goes wrong, at the best i had though about getting the delivery late or partial damage, but it seems now i will have to gear up more for ad verses if any.

It is already 7 working days that i have made the payment to SYW, and they are supposed to deliver it to me in 12 working days, but i have been following up with them since Friday, and their replies are not satisfactory, they are saying that the global seller has not provided them the shipment details which means that the projector is still not received at the global hub of SYW in America, they further say that the global seller had said them that they will deliver in 6 working days the projector to their hub, so i can expect the delivery in 20 days instead of 12 days, if this happens then image of SYW, is at stake, like in case of 20north.

V.

Well Vinay,

As told above dont worry about delays in delivering it is common sometime in online delay which we have to face while we save lot of bucks.

Please note that this is an hot model and it could have been exhausted while the order has been placed by SYW.. So the VPX will be shipping it in next lot.. So please leave the tracking part and just go ahead and keep working to recover the bucks you invested in the PJ:cool:

SYW Suspense

Dushie,

Indeed there is always a first time, i am lucky that with you people's guidance i have done my best risk management, rest is fate.

I have exchanged several e-mails with SYW, but the replies are not encouraging, but still early to take a adverse call. I have asked them to give me the details so that i can follow up with visual directly. If there is a high delay, then it is bad for them, as everyone is seeing on this forum for what is happening.

V.

Like Srini has advised, give it some time. I have bought online from USA numerous times. Initially I used to follow up frequently and anxiously but after a while, you get used to it..... relax and leave it to luck as your risk management is done already:).

Convertor

So reju, please give me a link with photo from where i should buy the converter, lamington road, croma? There could be some projector lift & hdmi cable etc issues too, i am waiting to solve it step by step once the projector arrives.

Thanks for the valuable tip.

Bear It Out

Hello Sri,

Thank you so much for the 2 writings.

Well about the purple factor you are right, the best is i can be on guard, and check the projector in all respects the moment it is at my door. About the delay in getting the projector and evasive replies etc from SYW, i have decided to keep a low profile on basis of your and others good suggestion, after all you'll know to play this game better, so i will toe the line.

About the tip which you gave on hot model and about being exhausted, is a great point and i should bear accordingly but you know the best way to handle such matters is that before SYW, places the order with seller, they should take a clear confirmation from them that it is in their ready stock because it is zero wise for someone to take the order when not in stock and cause heart burns to all concerned.

Indeed i will recover the bucks and time lost for not seeing any movies and related during these many days, which will be by watching a lot more then usual at least for the first 7 days.

Vinay, your projector may already be compatible with 110-240 volts. I am browsing from phone, so am unable to check the specs.

Hdmi, like Sanjay has said, let us wait and see if your current cable works well for 1080p. But do your homework on where to buy a long hdmi cable if required so as to not cause further delays.

Planning

Hello Santosh,

With so many good writings by you and others, i have decided to take a nap so that i get better dreams as i have already fastened the seat belt in form of risk management.

So there are possibilities that i may not have the issue of volts, thanks for the browsing. If the hdmi cable is required, then probably you will tell me to source it from abroad but in such a situation will there be some temporary solution by which i can continue to test and watch movies.

I too would prefer minimum delays in hosting the projector because meet is pending at my place by members.

V.

I also have ordered the 8350. I am pretty sure it is 110-240 volts so no converter is required. Some Other issues that the projector is know to have:
1. Red haze on the screen that disappears within 40-50 hours.
2. Slightly elevated noise when the auto iris activates (reported by some owners and others can't hear it so it must be subjective)
3. Some verical banding reported with some sources mainly pc based.
Regardless it is a luck of the draw so hopefully there wont be any major issues when I get mine.
Cheers
Sid

Vinay, since your current requirement is only 1080p (and not hd audio as well), it is relatively easy. The only challenge is the correct length at a reasonable price. I have posted an eBay India Seller's link earlier in this discussion from where you can source your cable in the worst case scenario.

Silent Purchaser

Hello Sid,

Well you are quite a silent purchaser, it would have been much greater if you would have had a few posts before the purchase.

Since you have also ordered 8350, i will have opportunities to raise a few queries to you in a phased manner. I read on the forum about these teething issues.

So how have you ordered this projector, through a third party? Please do advice the cost, delivery details etc.

Hi Vinay - Unfortunately I just read your thread - I initially saw the first post which was for a replacement lamp so I did not read the thread for a few days.
Anyways I ordered my projector during the "black friday" sale from projector point. They were cheaper than Visual Apex (I have ordered 4 projectors in the past from them) by about $100. The projector has been delivered to my sisters house and she is planning to bring it with her when she visits me on Dec 20. I made up my mind reading about the proj. from AVSforum. I initially planned a Panasonic ptae4000 but I believe this can perform 90% of that at 50% of the price.
Cheers
Sid

You can get it from Naresh Electronics at Lamington Road. Tel: 02223858154
The power consumption is about 270-300W. So this 500W model should be fine:
MDR Electronics - MX Electronics - Home Theater Cables & Connectors - Computers & Laptop Accessories - Pro Audio / Studio Audio Cables & Connectors - Audio Video Components & Accessories - Fiber Optic Component & Accessories - Cable TV Component & Ac

If you plan to buy more US electronics like AVR etc., for HT then go for 1.5KW or 2KW model.

Whether you need a converter depends on your exact model. The manual mentions:

Power supply 100 to 120 VAC:
3.1 A (Home Cinema 8350)
3.3 A (Home Cinema 8700 UB)

200 to 240 VAC:
1.3 A (Home Cinema 8350)
1.5 A (Home Cinema 8700 UB)

The Power Of Forum

Well i appreciate a lot about the efforts being put towards the converter and other so many details, that is why i say there is no place better then a forum compared to getting the information from a local store.

V.

Agree with Reju, too much information is also injurious to health. Most of the projectors should work from 110 to 240 volts. My HD 20 does. So vinay better is to hold on, once you have it in your hand you can take a call on the same.

Relief Rally

On basis of your important writing i spoke to someone senior at SYW, and have been advised that in case there are some serious working issues in 15 days of delivery then they will pick up the projector from my house and ship it back to the seller with no charges to me and the seller will send me a new projector or refund the full money.

I think this is quite a relief rally.

V.

Hello Vinay,
In ProjectorCentral site, two people have reported complaint of pink purple glow in Epson Powerlite display. Doesn't this makes you nervous? You will not have the option of sending it back for replacement if you see any such problem.

They will pick from home? Great service!

SYW Crucial Update

Well i will like to share with you'll an crucial update on my transaction with SYW

It is around 8 working days that i have ordered the projector but i have not been getting an update from them, in-fact their replies have been evasive etc. Yesterday i had a online chat with them for over an hour, and then with someone very senior, i told them to furnish me evidence that they have placed the order to visual and the document confirming when they have made payment to them, they have not been able to furnish the evidence, so what i should assume out of this is any body's guess.

Further in light to this adverse development, i asked SYW to refund me the money right away and they said it will take 15 days, i told them that i will never accept this, so they said they will give me a cheque on Monday. So last night i gave them a final offer that they show evidence that they have placed the order to visual by today morning or give me my money back today itself via electronic payment, in view to this offer from my side they have acted swiftly last night they have placed the order ONLY last night to visual and have provided me the evidence.

I think this time they will handle it well, after all they can not afford to fire a another larger bullet on themselves again, as they mean business now, no wonder they have started advertising on this forum, i have told them for what i feel about their company, and if they feel otherwise then they should join this forum and counter my allegations so that everyone can see who is wrong and right.

I know many of you'll are watching this thread closely so i am doing my full moral responsibility with regular updates after all i owe it to you'll with the way i am getting help from members.
