Raspberry pi 2 project help

Hello
I am planning to use raspberry pi 2 with kodi as media streaming device on my tv with 1tb hard disk and my PCs as external media source .
How can I achieve this ? By pc I mean my home network ...
Please direct me to any step by step guide about the same .
Also suggestion are welcome if any thing better than above system is available given the expenditure is same as of above project

Other options could be Beaglebone Black, Odroid XU4/C1+ etc etc.

Bought and installed open elec in pi2 . However needed a active usb hub for attaching 1 tb hd to it

i recently made a media player with Rasp pi 2 , used OSMC which is very easy to install and it detected my TP link dongle with out any trouble .
