Recording from Tata Sky

OP started a thread to know about a technical possibility, And it has turned into a bitching session. Stick to the point boys.

I had read somewhere about grabbing content from TS STB HDD, Has anybody more idea about it?

But right now all other DTH operators are same. Unless govt comes up with a regulatory body for DTH, this thing will continue.

I am getting 40% signal strength in my Airtel DVR, Their executive tells me this is good enough. In absolute terms, signal strength is 136. When he was doing installation, I asked him what will be signal stength, He told me 160-200 but when he finished doing it, strength was merely 136. I asked him to rectify this. He then told me 136 is good enough as signal quality is 100%. What could I have done there? I had the same signal strength issue in my non-HD box. I used to get 195 only where as my frds used to get 235 around. May be this is due to the location.

Due to this low strength, I am pretty sure it will not work even if there is a hint of rain. :(

I just hope low signal strength do not impact PQ too much.
Its unfortunate. Seems Airtel usually have very less signal strength and hence more affected by rains. Should not impact PQ if quality is stable at 100%. That is the power of Digital technology (very high tolerance), even with such low strength, it will still give you 100% performance (atleast most of the times).

Not bitching dear, bashing them for frustration they unnecessarily create :)

You need copy+ and extract+ to try copying the content. However max you could do is to back the data and someone swap the drive to a bigger 1TB or so. I haven't tried it yet as my STB is still under warranty (you need to remove the HDD and connect to a PC using a regular SATA cable.

AVer Media HD EzRecorder C283. This is the only option without getting your warranty cancelled from the DTH Provider for opening and tempering with Set Top Box , and not getting caught up in all illegal copyrights violations.
