Recording in Tatasky + HD

Dear Friends,

Having enjoyed the HD channels of my Tatasky + HD connection for the past 2 days, I now tried my hand at recording.

I don't fully remember the advice given by the engineer but I would like fellow members to guide me on 2 issues.

Morover the technicians are so busy, that asking them to revisit my house is tough on them too.

Because they are so flooded with installation requests..

Maybe the experts frequenting HiFivision.com can post detailed instructions..

My problem areas are:

It is easy to start recording.. Just press the red "rec" button but I cant figure out a way to stop recording at a place of my choice since I don't have a stop button.

So, How do I stop the recording?

We can fastforward and rewind using the arrow keys.. but again, how do you stop playback?

How does one change recording modes between "Record", "Booked" and "Series"?

How does one allot programmes in Series and booked modes?

It would be a great help if someone who is familiar with Tata Sky + HD recording could post a detailed lesson on how to do the above.

Go to the programme you are recording and press the record button again.

Just change the channel.

Go to "Plan". I think the options you require are there.

Dear friends,

I recorded a channel for 1 minute. Then, as our friend Zervinb suggested, I re-pressed the rec button.

I found that it was continuing to record.

There is nothing wrong with the button as starting rec is easy.

In the window that shows the recorded files too, the clock continues to tick.

I came back to the channel I was recording and tried pressing rec again.

I dont know what I did but I was able to somehow stop the recording.

I know that the method must be as simple as chalk and cheese and once I figure it out it will be a cake walk for me.

I know that I am missing something obvious.

I pray for one of you friends to post a detailed article on the subject of recording and I will always be thankful to them.

Also maybe someone can comment on how to setup the Booked and series features..

You need to press select to see the banner and then press rec button to stop recording.

For series ill have to check again but i think in the banner you get a chain icon with the color. You need to press that. Have to check again cuz have just used it once.

Feel free to contribute on how to use the "Booked" and "Series" with your ideas.

The recording process.. once one knows how.. seems to be very simple..

Don't know why it never struck me instantly..

Dear anm,

The Tatasky + HD set top box has 1 USB port in the back, and 1 USB port in the front card slot. Totally 2 USB ports.

However, they state that the USB ports are strictly for official use.

The Tatasky + HD set top box also has an ethernet port.

The visiting engineer said that in the near future, users can transfer files from the 500GB Hard disk to one's PC using this ethernet port.

He said that this facility might be enabled in the coming months.

Hope this does not trigger copyright issues.

If you are in the "Plan" window,
then Series link can be enabled/disabled using the "blue" button.

The absence of a decent user's manual forces me to ask all these questions.

Now 1 more query remains: How to use "Booked".

Dear Allajunaki,

I just tried it out. I tuned onto a serial and entered the "plan" menu.

It has 3 icons: Recorded, Booked and Series.

I pressed the blue button... Nothing happened... Once the language selector popped up.

If I enter the Series window, Please enlighten me on how to add channels/Programs to this window. Also how to schedule recording queue.

Also, While recording normally, I used the select button to open the popup menu and then pressed the rec button as suggested earlier by our friend, abchopra2010 to stop recording. The clock dissappears but when I go to the plan window, It continues to tick. I wonder whether it is still recording.

I dont know why I am not able to understand a simple procedure like this.

Please share your info so that all may benefit..

ok, Apparently the menu is quite different from the Old TS+ box, and I was telling ya based on the old box.

The new ones have the following stuff.

In Plan you have 3 options
-->Recorded : For the shows that are already recorded.
-->Booked : List of future recording that you have planned.
-->Series : This is a list of "Series Linked" recordings you might have.

Series is when you want the set top box to record all the new episodes from a particular series. When you want series link a recording, all you have to do is, Hit "R" button while highlighting the show you want (from the Guide or the regular Channel listing).
You will find this recording that you just now set under "Recorded" or "Booked". Now hit "R" button, while highlighting the show you want to perform a series Link. Now you will see this under "Series". When you hightlight this, and hit select, you will see the all the episodes recorded/to be recorded for this series.
