Hi All,

Its good to see a lot of people going for home theatre projectors for movie watching in dedicated/non dedicated rooms. I thought it will be encouraging for them to see some real users sharing their usage story on these lines..

- PJ make/model
- Since how long using it?
- Approx usage in hours/week
- Source (BDP/Rips/Dvd/DTH..)
- Type of content - Movies, TV, sports..
- Issues faced so far/how solution was found (this would be helpful for the potential PJ buyers for clearing their fears about issues about lamp failure, vertical lines etc)
- bought locally/outside India & hand carried/sent via online sites...
- Price :)

Thanks,
Saravanan

Starting with mine

- Optoma HD 20 (blindly went for this after seeing a lot users in this forum. Also for its price/performance)
- Since Sept 2012
- 2 or 3 movies in a week. Approx 6-7 hrs/week. I am hoping to increase it in the coming months:)
- Rips (7-8 GB size file) mostly.
- 100% movies.

- Issues : I had issue with HDMI cable while installing th PJ. Lesson learnt is to pair the HDMI iwth PJ before putting it inside the conduits - plain common sense! Replaced the HDMI later with a new one.
- Bought and hand carried by a relative from amazon.com for around 850$

- Epson TW 6100. For my budget this was a no brainer. I wanted 3D too, but i guess i could have lived without 3D.
- Since Feb/March 2013
- About 5-6 hours per week. Want to watch more, but must give time to kid.
- Rips, Blu-rays and DVDs. Audio quality in most downloaded content is very bad - though the video quality is nice. Audio in DVD is better. English dvds are ridiculously expensive (Rs 500 - 600), while regional movies are cheaper. i do invest in good BDs (don't feel as bad as i feel while spending on DVDs). Anyways currently i do spend significant money on DVDs/BDs. I hope we get a good subscription service soon. Any ideas here - where can i get better content for less?
- 100% movies
- Positioning the picture perfectly on the screen has always been a prob since my PJ doesn't have lens shift. It does not disturb my viewing really but can bother me mentally sometimes. The PJ itself is giving me excellent service, no issues at all. I like the kind of picture it produces.
- Paid about 98k with warranty and everything in Bangalore
All said and done, a PJ based HT is the best thing i have spent my money on.
