liner tracking is ideal from a theoritical perspective but from experience, i have noticed that you have to be extremely lucky to get a linear tracking turntable in decent shape...stay away from the usual japanese brands, thought Bang Olufsen's Beogram 8000 was perhaps a good one (from other's reviews). For playing the type of LPs you'd find in the Indian second hand market, nothing can beat the Technics S-arm
