I was touring and just saw the thread. Happy to know that Ram and Santhosh are joining in. @ Srini, I think it is time we update the list and finalise the date so that more people can join in.

It is also time that we finalise the venue. Rajiv has pointed at some venue located at Gandhinagar, Adyar. Sometime tomorrow, we may tink of visiting this place. On Monday, we must visit Savera and Gautham Manor where we conducted our last meet and then analyse which one to take.

It is also the right time to approach dealers to solicit participation and also to sponsor the meet. Any volunteers for the job?

@Ssrini & Rajiv, I'll call you guys after I land in Chennai tomorrow.

I should be there and would love to exhibit my DIY RCM . But someone in the local Forum member would have to get me a Euroclean wet and dry Vacuum Cleaner and an old TurnTable. I won't be able to lug it from here.

The meet is now finalized for 10th March, 2013

Looks like almost the meet will go like Plan A.. All the members individual systems will be played which will be exhibited.

Today myself, Rajiv, Captn.Rajesh decided to go first round for look out for the venue.

Visited following hotels to have an look of rooms / halls..

1) Goutham Manor
2) Hotel Savera
3) Ambassador Pallava
4) The President

In the above Goutham Manor + The President were dropped from the list of prospective venue due to lack of space in the room + hall for exhibiting.

We have discussed in details with the concerned personnel of hotel ambassador + Savera and explained our requirements to conduct this meet. Looks like removing the cot in the room is an difficult affair for the guys. However they will consider our proposal and comeback to us shortly. We had a look of small conference room + big hall of Hotel Savera and found to be matching our requirement of accommodating 2 systems in each three(3)small conference room available + large systems in big hall which may be given to sponsors... So almost we are impressed with Hotel Savera..

Think big with low cost is our motto. We know everybody cannot affort paying more money for attending the meet. Captain is luring with us that he will get an big discount in Taj Club House and we are going to have an look tomorrow.. Further information will be updated by Captn..

Added later..

I had shot off mails to all the prospective sponsors yesterday soliciting their participation in the meet.

Update:

1. Analogue Audio Labs - Would be participating.
2. Vipul Audio Tech - Likely to come
3. Decibel - Sent regrets.

I'm yet to hear from others.

Audiophiles will be delighted to hear the dared tube amps:)

Are we planning for any DAC tests or Cable tests in the meet?

Since multiple venues are being planned, we could surely plan this in one of the set ups preferably that of members.

Fresh update:

Praveen of Vipul Audio Tech and Clifford of Genelec are out of station / Country on 10th March 2013 and hence their participation would be doubtful. They are keen to participate and it is coincidence that they can't make it on the said date. Since our dates have not yet firmed up, would it be OK to shift the meet to a later date?

Genelec created an sensation during the last meet and almost everybody is impressed with that and no doubt everybody will love to hear for an long session.

Vipul is one of our close associates during the last meet and we need his participation and most of his gears are mid range and may lure the beginners.

Everybody agrees I dont mind shifting the date or we can do an small meet on the said date like Old meet and go ahead in changing the plans for mega event.:) May be we can have an meet in your club on the said date ? or In groups we can have listening session in my house / Rajiv House / Murali_n / CaptnRajesh ?

And it could have been an even bigger one if they had had time to properly demonstrate both the room correction effects of the DSP model and had time to play more than a few minutes of music.

I'm biased: I have a soft spot for this kind of speaker and for this company! This is partly because nearfield monitors are likely to be my only future speaker investment. No particular reason for the specific company, though, other than what I read, and what I saw that once. Yes, I'm keen to see them again.

I'm easy on dates. the only thing is that every day into march ups the temperature.

Some sort of headphone comparison experience would be great. I'm not holding my breath on that, though, because the valid point was made, last time, that headphones are a necessarily one-on-one not-very-social experience. Maybe, if this thing grows in years to come, we could have a headphone room...

Hi srini,

I think we should give preference to the dealers and accordingly replan our dates, as per their convenience also. Since members system can be heard at any time, but getting together willing dealers, under one roof would require time and effort.

Just my Rs.2/-
