Hi,

I wanted some clarification on the following for Tower speakers Bi amp.

1. Is it okay to different brand but same AWG (16) cables for Bi Amp?
2. Is it okay to use different AWG cables for Bi Amp.
Eg. One cable will be 16 Awg connected to left speaker terminal and 12 Awg connected to the same (left) speaker other terminal?

Will any of the above scenario will cause any hardware or sound issue?

Won't cause anything to blow up and as far as the sound goes, only one way to find out. Cheers.

Its like wearing different size shoes for each leg. Nobody is gonna say you can't do it, but its not right however!

In both cases, should not be an issue at all! Go right ahead!

Quite some time back I experimented with my Monitor Audio BX5 speakers to get them bi-wired - my Marantz PM7005 has zone 2 terminals, so connected those separately to the speakers, removed the brass/copper plate that joins the terminals on the speakers. The wires were different, because I did not buy extra length when I purchased the speakers. But, I was unable to hear any difference; means I was unable to hear any difference from my original setup to the bi-wired. Conclusion: for short length the wire gauge will not matter much - just based on my observations only. Not sure for bi-amping, never tried that.

@Michelangalo watch this video for info related to bi-wiring & bi-amping..

In an earlier system, I had Straightwire Encore II speaker cables and Bandridge Speakerflex 1.5 sqmm cables in biamped configuration with the Straightwire used for the LF and the Bandridge used for the HF. There's a marked difference in the guage.
My amplification was an Arcam A70 used as a pre amp and an Arcam P80 power amp.
This was what was suggested and given to me by an audio guy.
