I currently have standard alpine head unit (basic one-with UBS and CD slot), 2 front & 2 rear speaker fitted from maruti dealer. I do't want to change the headunit but want to change the speakers, as the sound distort at slightly higher volume.

I have two option in my head with budget of 15,000 in either case below:

Option 1

Could you guys suggest me good speakers, which will deliver good sound output. Also, will I require an amplifier to support the output of music flow to get good sound quality. If yes suggest me some amplifier as well.

Option 2

If speakers are not changed and amplifier is added, will it work?

PS:I have 7 inch kicker subwoffer in spare

Let me know guys. what do yo think? Thanks in advance

If your speakers are stock, you should change your speakers & add an amp.
In your budget you can look at pioneer, kenwood or JBl for your amp(pl get a decent wiring kit)
& for your speakers you can try JBL,Blaupunkt,Hertz,Rainbow(Not sure if the latter 2 will fit in you price range)
Hope it helps
All the best.

I don't know the rest of your set up to comment on.
Also IMHO the speakers are more important, so if you are going to run stock speakers & add an amp, not sure if it ll help overall.
Hope it helps
Cheers

I would suggest, buy a 2 channel amp and use it to power the kicker sub you have to get the bass. Then decrease the bass from the head unit so that there is less bass sent to the stock speakers and they do not distort at high volumes. I hope you will be satisfied with the sound, if not you have the option to change your stock speakers and power them with the new amp.

Buy a four channel amp and two rear speakers. Connect the rear speakers to the rear out of the amp and bridge the front out of amp to connect the sub. Auditor has some nice amps and speakers and might fit in your budget.

Hello guys coming back on my old post, more than year after. Didn't go with it then due to the tight budget. Now I am planning to fit a 4 channel amp (link below). Let me know, if it a good amp. Review seems to be good and fits my budget.
Sony, Sony - Xplod - XM-N1004 - 4 Channel Bridgeable Amplifier (1000 W) http://m.snapdeal.com/product/page/988028835?utm_source=ios_copylink&viewinapp=1

Will it throw a good output, if 2 front, 2 rear speakers and 7 inch kicker subwoofer is attached to it?will it distort the sound quality?. I read over some stuff, it says better to add rear speakers on 2 channels and 2 coil subwoofer on other two rather than clubbing it all. What are your views? Else 5 channel will suffice? I have standard alpine headunit fitted by company(i doubt if right now it pass the best frequency to speakers)

Also, if i have to install a 4 amp with 4 speakers and amp, how much would be the wiring kit required ? Below should suffice or i need more and which one shuld be good considering price as well?

Guys your assistance would be grateful. Thanks in advance!

Few suggestion from my end:

* Please go for something other than Sony (JBL/Bull/GZ etc would be better).
* I dont think you can power all 4 speakers and sub with a 4 channel amp, you would need to get a 5 channel or use the amp to power the front speakers and bridge the other two for sub. For the rear fills use the amp power from the HU.
* For 4-channel preferrably go for a 4-gauge wiring kit.
* Get something better for sub 7" kicker would be bit small. Please try something bigger.

Thanks,
Venki

Thanks Venki for the revert.
Kicker woofer i m getting it from my friend, so thought of it. Could you suggest me a good woofer and 4 & 5 channel amp?
I am not lookig at a very high budget, my plan was to spend for amp, My idea was to add an amp, since i have the subwoofer available.
Is the 7 inch woofer not that worth putting in the car

Hi..

I agree with suggestion given by Mr. Ketan Sethi.

For a lowest Budget and Good Sound I Would also suggest you to get an Amp & a Sub (Least 12 Inch) JBL will be Fine (Price around Rs. 4,000/- to Rs. 5,000/-). 2 Channel Amp is Enough, You can Bridge it and use it to just Power your Sub. I Would suggest you to use Blaupunkt - EMA 255 - 2-Channel Class A/B Amplifier (330 W) which will fit Best in Budget. Cost for same is around Rs. 3,000/- to Rs. 3,500/-. Although it is a small Size Amp but it delivers a Powerful Sound.

You Just have to Lower the Bass from your Head Unit entering in your Door Speakers to prevent distortion on high volumes and use the Bass from your Amplifier powering your SUB... With Proper setting of your Amplifier I am Sure u will Enjoy a Good Quality & Powerful Sound Just by Adding a SUB & 2 Channel Amplifier.

Thanks Sadim and Venki
Based on suggestions over amp and sub, i have shortlisted few items, if you could have a look and let me know your views

From the below config- I will power front speakers and sub from amp and rear speaker from suzuki fitted alpine HU.
Amplifier:

Wiring kit: Which one is better?

If you are going to Power Front Speakers with amp then i think the Factory Fitted Speakers may not be a good Choice for running them on Amp. Its Better to Stuck with 2 Channel (Bridge) Amp to Power the Sub woofer, the Bucks saved on Amplifer can be spent on More Better Sub such as GTO Series of JBL.

If you want to power the front speakers with amp then you may need to replace your front speakers with component speakers. hence you have to spent additional bucks on Component Speakers.

Sadik

Oops, sorry somehow I missed to respond to your thread. GZ amps are good, you can go for that. For wiring I would go with a 4 guage one. I went even cheaper route and got hold of 35mm Finolex cable, its less flexible but does the job. Having said that, a wiring kit would make sense since getting fuse holder etc seperately is difficult.

JBL CS sub is an ok sub.

I did some research over the weekend and finally shopped thru below items except woofer. Let me know your opinion over amp and speakers.

Option 1
I am planning to run Polk component speakers (front) and rear speakers thru amp.
can this or any 4 channel amp run such a setup? I have read thru that front speakers and only sub can run thru 4 channel amp.

Option 2
I purchase a woofer now and run front speaker with Polk, power both thru pioneer amp and rear thru head unit? Will soound surround or distort or shuld be fine?

Other thing is, once i get it installed, amp would need to be tune. Will i be able to do it? I was checking over youtube and seems to be complicated.

Venki >> This is absolutely fine. However if you are running stock speakers, I would recommend not to power it from the amps since the stock speakers are usually of higher sensitivity and lower power rating.

Venki >> This should be fine (but why Pioneer Amp?), but balancing out the sound might be a challenge. First try powering up just the front speakers, sit in the back and see how audible it is, if its comfortable you can avoid the rear speakers all together.

Other thing is, once i get it installed, amp would need to be tune. Will i be able to do it? I was checking over youtube and seems to be complicated.

Venki >> If you have a multimeter it would not be that complicated. First of all disconnect the speakers. Run a sine wave (say 1khz) from your HU, set the volume of the HU to may be 80% of maximum. Connect the Multimeter to the speaker terminals (of amp) and increase the gain (Max Voltage less Gain and vise-versa) till the point where the voltage give you the required RMS power (say if the amp is capable of supplying 100W, then across 4 ohm the voltage required would be P = V^2/R, V = Sqrt(P*R) = sqrt(400) = 20V).

Venki >> Not heard any Pioneer/Polks/Blaupunkt so cannot comment. But Pioneers generally is not in the league of more conventional brands.

My reply inline.

My suggestions -
Get DLS components for front . The best midrange/voice in entry level speakers . The tweeters are not upto the mark ,but better than poineer , JBL .

Get GZ amp . Heats up a bit ,but quite capable for that price . Sound is a bit harsh though .For under seat install I would recommend the blaupunkt sold on snapdeal .

Get 4 channel amp . Do not go in for a 2 channel . For rear components you can shop any jbl , pio or DLS coaxial .

For sub get a 8 inch or a 10 inch one . Will save a lot of valuable boot space on the swift . AMP can be a digital amp which can be installed under the front seats .

Hello All, Thanks for all the views :clapping:. As I said earlier I have got the amp, front - component speakers and rear - 6x9 coaxial speaker. I skipped the sub for the 6x9 rear speakers.

Below is the set-up:
Amplifier
Pioneer amp - 750 watts - 4 channel

Guys, I heard not so good feedback from you, will this not do the required job? Will it not power the Polk speakers i am getting installed?

Front speakers
db6501 - Polk Audio

Rear speakers
db691 - Polk Audio

This is how my final setup would be. i have got all of this delivered and need installation now.

Could you guys go through the specs and let me know, if speakers will work to the capacity of amp and vice-a-versa. Will I be able to power front and rear speakers through the amp?

@venki7744 - what would be the P = V^2/R, V = Sqrt(P*R) based on the spec i have?
