Step down for Yamaha 373- help!

Hello folks!

So I finally landed back in Hyd this morning. Unboxed my Yamaha 373 - would appreciate if any of you can direct me to the right place(s) in Hyderabad to get a good step down transformer.

The power wattage of this AVR is 250W, so it fine if I go for a 750W step down ? I am assuming thrice the power for the step down.

Also let me know if I should pick up a Belkin surge protector ?

Gujrati Gali, abids.. the MX shop there will have and there are other shops too.

Otherwise CTC secunderabad has MX shop as well.

Any idea on the kind of wattage and the price I should look at ?

You will require step down transformer for sub woofer as well.Kindly check the voltage requirements of both the items.Add the wattage required and multiply it by 2.Go for isolated step down transformer like maxine,argo

Mine is receiver only that is bought from the US. I am buying a sub locally.

I dont really get the idea behind sub needing a step down ?

Can you come again please ?

If you are buying sub locally, no need for voltage converter. I would suggest a 1KW transformer for the amp.

I am using 500KVA rated transformer for 373 for more than 3 months. No issues so far.

buy double the power stated so that you do not have heating issues

You can also try Vector @ Nagarjuna circle in the 1st flor of the building housing the SUBWAY outlet. I think He gives a respectable price.. but you'd have to give him the specifications.. Suggest you go to Vector only if you dont find the appropriate one in the MX Store @ CTC

I got hold of one a week back from a new acquaintance. Its a 500w step down from a company called integrated instruments and they supply these to defense it seems. Paid 1500 and its quite good!
