strange but true,input stero output mono help

Hello every one
i own a Yamaha amp rx V595A.I have connected my media player iomega 1tb to v-aux in the amp and another external hard disk igate 250gb to the media player via usb .i have downloaded songs from torrents site onto the 250 gb hard disk and listen to it via media play through the amp.but the output is mono not stero but if i burn the songs on a cd an play it in me car it sounds stero. Why does this happen,pls help

Check whether the audio mode is set as mono in your AVR. Also check the cable you use for connecting. Try with another cable.
