Oh please!
Here are people owning multiple sets of amps , streamers , changing DACs like clothes , upgrading speakers like credit cards and streaming is bad for planet earth ?!
Little drops of water make…
I think the point of the article is that data storage and internet use including streaming movies, TV shows and music by billions of people together is energy intensive and leaves a significant foot print.
With every bit of data generated and used by each one of us being stored (forever) data server farms are growing like weed all over the world.
You are right this is not the only contributor, there are bigger culprits.
An individual decision to move from class A to D amps would be like a drop in the ocean. Giving up multiple systems….? (assuming they listen to one system at a time?)

is another choice.
Will it make a huge difference? No. A small difference perhaps. Waiting for legislation to discourage/ban use of energy inefficient gear, (like two stroke engines, incandescent bulbs) will be too little too late I feel.
For me this article was another unpleasant reminder that climate change is happening, gathering momentum, and I (along with billions of my fellow species) am reluctant to change my behaviour in multiple ways that collectively may mitigate the damage to the environment.
Every drop/bit counts. We all have choices. The herd will follow or be forced to follow.
Data storage and transmission emits 97 million tonnes carbon dioxide a year, roughly equivalent to the annual carbon footprint of Sweden and Finland
