Subwoofer for 25k

Thanks everyone,
the only thing thats stopping me from going for a velodyne is the feq response factor , velodyne impct 12 freq response is similar to bic f1230 hz i believe, and as far as auditioning go, i dont have much options down here in cochin, reading the rave reviews abt pb1000 im very much interested in it but that's like double my budget even if i extend my budget i wud stretch it to maybe 35k not beyond that, thats the price i spent for my speakers

was offered a velodyne impact 12 for 30 k is that a gud price, should i go for it or is there anything better at that price pro fx lists the dsw 550 pro for 34 k so should be able to get it for atleast 31-32k, which among the two will be better in terms of bass, polk is listed as 23-160 hz whereas velodyne is 29-140hz, so on paper polk should dig deep, but is that true in real world?

As far as i know.....velodyne is specialists for subwoofers......is it possible to audition the dsw550 as well?? Nothing like an audition. I would say get an audition of both these subwoofers. Pick up the one you like!! Finally you need to be satisfied

yeah i must try an audition first, but im not sure if they will be able to display their full potential, as the set up could be off, especially profx they have such nonsense setup in their shop, i have heard velodyne before and was impressed by it, i heard it against a custom sub which was like 250 watts yet it was able to stamp its authority over the custom one with ease, could see from your signature that you own a polk sub, how are they?? have hard good reviews about polk speakers but not so much abt polk sub's, also the biggest dilemma is if i should max out my budget and get a svs pb1000

It finally all comes down to personal preference. I did not have a good budget for a subwoofer due to which i had to settle for polk psw110. As far as the audition goes i have not auditioned really high end subwoofers. Ive auditioned: PSW110, RM6750(sat+sub), JBL Cinema 610
(Sat+sub), Jamo SUB260, Onkyo, Yamaha,etc..........The best was the jamo sub260. Had all the punch and really was good enough. The problem was since my room size was 300sqft. I thought i need atleast a 10inch subwoofer. Since i already increased my budget for the polk bookshelves. I did not want to now go in for a killer subwoofer. So just took an audition @profx and bought the psw110 as it was good enough to meet my requirements. Quite happy with my decision. Im not a basshead and the bass is filling up my entire room(though i have tk keep the volume on subwoofer @70%.....wondering what an eight inch subwoofer would do. I recommend the svs subwoofer if you can really overdo the budget. But still you need an audition before finalising upon it. You need to hear and feel if the svs is worth the extra cash you would put into. Hope you find your lookout soon:)

most probably i will be going for velodyne impact 12, i will try to audition svs, will only go for it only if i find a significance difference in bass. Going by reviews svs is in a different league compared to velodyne, and magnat supreme i guess the rms is too low for that price, at 25k if i pay 5k more i get the velodyne which im sure will blow the magnat out of the way. I have heard the sub that comes with polk rm6750 set up , such a waste

Hi Sujith,

I recently upgraded to SVS PB1000. Its a fantastic subwoofer for movies. Its good for music as well.I advise you to wait until your budget permits and get this subwoofer. Its has got 5 year unconditional warranty. Its better to wait now instead of upgrading later. Let us know what you have purchased finally.

Regards
Srikar

yes i will definitely let u guys know what i have bought,
Srikar how is the pb1000 i am very much interested in this sub
how much did you pay for it?, and from where did you get it, could you give a detailed review of how it sounds, like i have mentioned already i like really deep bass, judging by the freq response it says it goes to 19 hz, which should be absolutely awesome, but i know 19 hz is the lowest possible so the spl wont be that high while playing a 19 hz feq, so i hope it will do justice to the freq between 25-30 hz.
How would you rate the sub, do you listen to deep bass stuff, i would really like the sub to rattle my seats with the bass

Hi Sujith,

I purchased from Delhi dealer . Contact directly to SVS customer care ([email protected]) where they will direct you to your Cochin dealer. You can contact them for price. Can get 10% discount on MRP by bargain. I really impressed with its deep bass which is good for movies. Yes I feel the difference between SVS and my old Polk PSW110. Received my sub yesterday still it has to finish its break in period to get smooth bass. I have calibrated with my YPAO and it gives strong bass.

Regards
Srikar

hi everyone,
i got an offer for Cambridge audio aero 9 sub woofer (29k)
couldn't find any reviews about the subwoofer, as its not a dedicated sub (comes in the aero9 package, heard the aero 9 fronts, they are awesome!!) couldn't hear the sub
the product description says 10" woofer with freq response of 21-200hz
would like to know your inputs

Thanks Sound Maestro
Even i read that review but its the review of the whole package rather than the sub, getting it from melvin (hifilink), you need any sub he is the man he will get it for you

got the cambridge audio aero 9 sub
have to say im impressed with the sub, it can dig low, guess its due to the bass radiator
tried playing bass i love you, really deep bass, only problem is since the radiator is located at the bottom, and the sub not being heavy, it tends to jump off the ground :D
other than that im so happy with it
