Members , I need help in choosing a subwoofer.
Currently my setup includes the Denon x2600h, and 5.0 (Mission LX2, mission LXC)
I am looking for a subwoofer between 25k- 30k. My living room is 14 x14 .
I wanted to go for the Yamaha sw100 since it’s under 20k but I don’t see it being recommended in this forum .Also preference is for a compact subwoofer.
Thanks

Any specific model. Am having another issue wrt my interiors. So i have this platform which can take any woofer upto 15.7 inches only. If i buy a front facing woofer and turn around to its left or right, will that hamper the sound quality?
Also does have anyone have experience with XTZ 8.17 subwoofer? I haven't ever heard of this brand.

Direction will not be an issue.. however the ports shouldn't be too close to a hard surface.

Taga TSW-200
The xtz sub will be too small..

I have auditioned XTZ 8.17 last October, when I started with my HT. It's a good sub for the size, but limited by driver size. I have compared it along with Polk DSW 440 which has a 10 inch driver. Quality of sound was better in 8.17. But choose to leave out sub in my initial build. I remember our FM @dr_rocket owns one and has high praises for the same.

Nice to learn that direction doesn't matter. This opens up my options as i had this understanding that front firing sub woofers should point to listener.

You can try the Yamaha NS-SW300 (approx. 27K) as it is quite compact and has more than adequate power (250W) to fully pressurise a 14x14 feet room (196sq.ft). I am using it in a 450sq.ft room and it does a pretty decent job. Its good for moves and great for music. @ArunkumarMB got one of these recently as well. Maybe he could shed some more light into how it performs and his experience with it so far.

Another option that you may consider is the PSB Alpha S10. Though I haven't heard it, I've heard good things about it from people who have and if the recent line of PSB speakers are anything to go by, this must be a terrific sub. However, I'd try and audition it first.

My pick below 50K is the Q Acoustics QB12.

Can you share pics so that we can get a better idea?

Your setup almost looks like mine.. only that my place for Sub is constrained by width, which is putting lot of constraint for Sub location.

Even I was under the same scenario to get a good sub within 30K.
I auditioned Yamaha NS-SW300/YST-SW315/Polk HTS10/XTZ 8.17(though out of budget). I really liked XTZ 8.17 but as @jagadeeshwarank said, its a very good sub for the size, but limited by driver size. so I felt its not a good idea to invest on it, better to go for 10.17.
I ignored SW315 coz of its looks, Polk HTS10 didn't impress me compared to NS-SW300. Hence I finalized NS-SW300, meanwhile got to know its real world performance from @DB1989, then finally bought it a last week.
Very happy with its performance and its compact as well, very good for Movie/Music. I feel its the best in this price range and definitely a VFM sub. Would definitely recommend it.

Sorry to bother you. What would be the depth of the subwoofer. As i mentioned above i cant have it face towards the LP if its more than 15.7 inches. Am not sure if i can turn this Yamaha Sub to the left (i.e front facing the left )and not loose out on the sound quality.

Dimensions (W x H x D) - 350 x 366 x 420 mm; 13-3/4” x 14-3/8” x 16-1/2”. In this model the flare port will be to your right side.
Alternatively, you can look for Yamaha YST-SW315 sub, its down-firing and much more compact with 270 W. It costs lesser than NS-SW300.

You don’t have to have it facing forward directly or for that matter, in that particular spot (the platform). You can place the subwoofer anywhere in your room and those other spots will sound equally as good if not better. You can do the subwoofer crawl test to figure out where the other spots of your room are quite easily (not literally crawl, you can simply use an spl meter on your phone). I have placed mine diagonally behind my listening spot. Also, placing a subwoofer facing straight ahead is usually not a good idea even if its kept in front and the yamaha manual itself states that it should be placed diagonally so that the bass has a longer path to travel before it hits the corners of the room.20200730_180953 80.jpg

It's a little master in subs. Definitely a good choice for small rooms and/or space crunch issues.

so the platform I have marked is where I plan to place the woofer . It’s only 15.7 inches deep

I hope the stuff kept on top of the AVR is only a temporary fixture and they don’t reside there permanently cuz most of the heat is dissipated through the top vents. Considering the fact that you don’t have any ventilation on the sides or back, unless you plan on cooking breakfast on it or upgrading very soon, i’d suggest removing the obstacles on top.

I thought u got the Rel t9i. Is that the sw300?

You can have a look at Jamo J10. After discount and negotiations, should come at just over 30k. It's an underrated sub but comes with rich heritage. Has favorable user reviews.

That’s my Samsung Tv’s one connect box .. its hardly 5 inch in depth .. so barring a few vents of the AVR most of the vents have free flow . I will move it little bit forward to be on safer side .Or have to find out a way to stack it with some feet so that the heat dissipates . Thanks

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
