Suggestins for watching downloaded content on mutliple screens

Hi,
I download a watch a lot of TV shows. I download them on my laptop and watch. Sometimes I watch on my TV for which I have to copy to a USB stick. My wife has her own shows which she watches on an IPad. I have to use iTunes to copy it for her.
Ideally I want to download it on one machine and be able to watch on multiple screens without using USB sticks or file transfer. What is a good way to do that? I download the smallest sized files, so quality of the video is not a concern for me.
