I am enjoying seeing two lots in this thread of the forum, one- excited who have got the box and activated, another and the more interesting, waiting for the box/ activation like a child promised a fancy toy but not getting the same or.. remember a late TV ad of Maggy noodles, children crying with hunger and beating their empty plates like drums and singing in chorus, Mummy-Mummy Bhookh lagi and mom consoles, "just two minutes."
What else can I do as TS has not yet come up with a HD version of TS+ hence wait and see desperation of other fellow members.
NB: this is not to hurt or ridicule anybody.

If you already posses a Tata Sky connection, what happens to the existing set top box if you upgrade ?

you can keep the STB. if you want to use both simultaneously you need to pay 150 bucks pm. Otherwise you can swap out the cable from the antenna and use one at a time.

I bought a TSky HD Set Top Box today from Sony Word Koramangala - the location is popularly called Sony World junction (4th Block). 080-25504060.
EDIT: Forgot to mention the source. Call up Tata Sky CC and tell them that you've been trying to get a HD set-box and hear out the entire list of dealers they have to offer. I got the following contacts and called each and every one of them (admit some of them are wrong numbers); finally ended up getting one.

I got my Tata sky HD box last night, there was one pc left with Pai got someone to pick it up for me.
Now waiting for them to come for installation. i am planning to set it up as a multi room.
Few things i noticed about the box -
1.Its made by KAONMEDIA and manufactured in China.
2. Build Quality looks ok not as good if i compare to my existing 5 year old Thomson STB which is being used in the other room.
3. Remote is very small in size compared to the original one i got with the other STB. Looks robust.
4. They may come for installation today.
5. When i open the lid on the right hand side of the box i see the digicard inserted in the bottom, above that i see open space which has a connector and pins inside maybe to insert a cam module or connect some device.
6. When i look inside the box from the vents above i see the acutal size of the PCB is quite small compared to the box.roughly 75% of space is taken by PCB rest 25% on the left hand side is just vacant.
7.looking inside i do see couple of heat sinks and a hynix chip. I am tempted to open the same but will wait and watch .

Anybody knows can we give existing SD STB & antenna to some other people(free of cost ) ? What will happen to existing balance in SD TS and account number will change with new TS HD?

I went to the Sony Centre in Koramangala(Bangalore) after confirming on the phone with his executive. After reaching there, turns out they're sold out & the only box they have left is the demo piece which they can't sell to customers.
So frustrating man. Have given up on the HD box for the time being. Anyways only 15 days of the World Cup left. Will try again once they have ESPN Star in HD permanently.

Be patient friend, i myself went calling all over bangalore to buy a TS hd box , finally manage to pick up the last piece form Pai, got it installed today.
Pai will be getting 100 odd boxes stock on Monday, just be in touch with the indranagar showroom and you can pick the same up.
If you are just replacing your old STB with the new one, the account balance will be transfered, they will ask you if you want to keep the old STB, say yes and keep it tomorrow it may come handy.
As of not TS has not come back with any buy back policy like Dish tv for old STB. But something may come to counteract dish tv offer.
You can transfer almost free of cost.
1. There is no installation charge for the other person
2. Your subscription cannot be transferred so he has subscribe fresh.

Ok. Here's my review of Tata Sky HD after having used it for a day now:

If you're a fan of Discovery HD and NGC HD, this thing is worth every penny. Discovery HD sometimes seems to have unrealistic edges in its images, but then, there is so much you can expect. For the newbies, Discovery HD and NGC HD broadcast HD programs independent of the regular Discovery and NGC channels.
ESPN HD and Star Sports HD work only during WC and Wimbledon :annoyed:- but the quality is amazing again.

I found Discovery HD to have the best 5.1 audio. It may be just me, but NGC HD seems to have an unevenly distributed 5.1 audio - the sub seems to hum every now and then :indifferent14:.
ESPN HD seems to play vuvuzellas (hope I've spelt it right) abruptly from the rear speakers, which can get annoying at times.
Overall, this deal is worth it. I tried switching between SD ESPN/SS and HD ESPN/SS a few times and holy cow! It's going to be one tough task watching SD from here.

Finally I got TS HD STB fro Devi Intl Sales next to Petrol Bunk in Jaya Nagar 3rd Block in the evening. Most of other shops like Pai/sony world said they are expecting stocks on Monday / Tuesday.

Some question arises...
1.Do HDMI cable is also used for non HD channels or Component cables are used seperately and simultaneously.

Still struggling to get the HD channels activated, customer care said they will activate last night as bulk upload will happen . Sunday morning still not working, i have called the customer care and raised a complaint now. Need it fixed by evening as i want to watch the match.

I finally managed to get TATA Sky HD yesterday, and was lucky enough to have it installed in a couple of hours too... however, the HD Gold Pack is not yet activated... Does anybody have an idea how long it takes? Surely it cant be as long as 48 hours...
Once you have the box installed activation should just be a phone call to the customer care . Call them up and tell them you have it installed and all ready for activation.
Enjoy your new HD experience.
