Tata sky hd

Hay guys i have just bought a sony 22 inch lcd which supports 720p resolution and has 2 hdmi slots should i buy tata sky hd for it or will it support tatasky hd???????????

What did the splitter cost you? Also does it weaken the signal at all?

I would be using one Tata Sky dish for 6 connections. 3 STB connected directed to Dish and 3 STBs connected via splitter to the fourth slot in the Dish.

a snapshot of tata sky splitter in my apartment complex.. only one cable comes from dish to splitter.. split into multiple STBs..

There was a contract between builder and tata sky for the whole apartment complex.. don't know how much they asked the builder for installation.. The tv cabling inside every room in the flat is also done by tata sky.. may be tata sky did it for free.. because it makes flat owners compulsory to buy tata sky connection only.. This splitter doesn't work for any other DTH service (as they claim).. I can connect my STB directly on wall socket in every room.. it works perfectly..My neighbor uses 3 STBs in 3 different rooms.. no signal loss at all.. what I noticed this dish is somewhat larger in size and the LNB also looks different than normal connection (individual) one.

Btw is the splitter powered i.e does it amplify or is just a normal isolated splitter.
BTW i can't see the picture clearly but it looks like it has 2 lnb inputs,so is it for TS+ service.

not powered..
I don't see any power cable connected to it.. Just one cable coming from dish.. and the rest going to different rooms..
I use it for normal SD TS connection.. no idea about 2 LNB inputs either..

Guys Day before yesterday I booked my tata sky HD . Since i m an exsisting customer i ll get HD gold package free for an year . But the customer care guy was asking me to pay for my the TataSky HD via Debit Card Mobile pay . I resented . The after some 1/2 an hour Customer care guy called me up to inform the that i would have to pay by cash on delivery and will still get the package free of cost . Just wanted to share this with all TATA sky customers . Also i can keep the existing box and activate it whenever later for free

Had one question for people who are already using the Tata Sky HD Box .

1. Please update on the list of the current channels which are being show ?

2. Out of these channels how many are running 24x7. As i did see few posts which said sports channels are only operational when matches are on.

from what i hear ESPN and start sports HD are event based channels so they aren't 24hrs,rest of the channels are 24hrs.

Thanks adder for the info, i just called few dealers in bangalore and no one has stock, If anyone has bought it recently in bangalore please let me know the contact details of places where stock is availabile, Pai kormangala does not have stock, adishwar also does not have stock.

yup, ESPN and Star Sports are only broadcasting when the live matches (at the world cup or wimbledon) are on, and not any other time. Not even the analysis or any of the other shows. i guess they just don't have HD content other than the live feeds from the world cup and wimbledon. but boy is it worth it, both the football and the tennis look gorgeous!

Why are you worrying about loss of power in signals. It is Tata Sky's responsibility to ensure that your boxes do get the signal at the required power.

If there is loss of power, they'd put a small device (which works like an amplifier) in between and still end up giving you good signals.

Checked with couple of dealers in Domlur & Indira Nagar(Bangalore). They have also run out of stock. BTW the stock they got was like 10-15 boxes. That ways its no surprise.
If i don't get the box by today evening then will wait till Sep-Oct when CL T20 & EPL start. Don't think its worth getting it if i miss this weekends WC/Wimbledon games.

Also, one of the dealers had Dish HD but said it was crappy compared to Tata Sky.

Airtel HD is also offering only ESPN/Star in HD right now. They will come up with some new HD pack after the world cup. So will have to pay additional for that.

Tata Sky is the best option as of now. Just praying i get hold of a box today or early tomoro morning.

I got my HD box connected today morning. The tech guy says it will take 24hrs for the HD channels to activate. Can anybody attest to it. I am an existing customer. I can only see SD channels now.But it sucks, I was hoping to watch the Portugal match today in HD.

well the HD pack is free for 1 year only in the current offer, they may remove the same after 15th July once sales pickup.

Fresh stock is expected to come in on Monday but it will not be high some 100 odd boxes.

I too am thinking on similar lines. Am EPL crazy like you , and being in small town we people come last in the queue :)

BTW EPL starts on Aug 14.

Only one lnb input is needed for TataSky+. The TataSky+ STB itself has 2 inputs as it has 2 receivers inside (so you can either record 2 programs or record 1 while watching the other live). Output of 1 LNB is connected to a splitter and then fed into the 2 inputs of TataSky+. You can feed the output of LNB to additional TataSky boxes too without problems (I have TataSky HD connected to the same wire from the single LNB).

AFAIK, powered splitters are only needed if the cable length is too large to maintain the signal. They are basically amplifiers.

Thats not true. Mine was activated instantly by the engineer who came to install and we watched HD right there. Call up customer service and get it activated immediately.

Re: TATA SKY HD in CHENNAI

Hi,

I been trying with lot of dealers yesterday and couldn't find one TS HD STB in chennai.

Can you let me know where i can find one today in chennai.

Regards,
Edwin

Atlast i got the HS STB and connected to my Sony 46' LED and called customer service and waiting to get activated.

Does anybody know how long it will take to see the HD picture after calling the customer service?

Hi,

Yes watching the Wimbledon and the Soccer in HD is just amazing. The clarity of the pic and texture of the colour is a delight to watch. I think i am lucky to get the box early here in Chennai. No the activation did not take 24 hours or anything like that. After connecting the box some software was downloaded.Once the download finished the HD pictures came on instantly.

cheers,
sri
