The Giveaway Thread

Hello everyone,

In conjunction with the Music thread, I'm putting together a collection of CDs, which serve as an Introduction to Western Classical Music.

A collection of 50 CDs, spanning the major periods of this music - Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern, and Contemporary (music by living composers). Should give you a feel for this music, and its progression over centuries of music making.

If this interests you, send a message by email to "[email protected]", and I'll put together a set for you.

Viren
Revived box full of CDs. Thank you so much for this wonderful gesture 🙏.

Can I have HDMI cable(2nos) and RCA regular one.

Good day Helium flight. I have two old non working DVD players of Philips and Samsung. Also old round DVD size portable player by Panasonic. I can gift you these but I don’t think they are easy to repair. In fact I have a Denon DCD 510 cd player which skips a lot. I want to repair but cannot find a reliable mechanic.
I can send u photos of DVD players.
I also have this World space Digital receiver. All not used for years and require repair, I feel. Home pickup only. Thanks
Anyone have old three way/ two way loudspeaker crossovers for a project? Would appreciate.

That's a nice giveaway. I remember the world space service is active in India until late 2000s. Still one ca try to tap satellite radio programmes from ISRO, but not sure

Done. Many thanks, it's indeed a great gesture. Im waiting for speakers from a fellow FM. These cables will be a great addition to complete the setup.
In case Heliumflight has no use for the radio I can always give it to anyone who can utilise it I some manner. However these items (and most electronics)do function admirably as a paperweight if not used regularly and are difficult to repair.DVDs are easier to repair but fail again very shortly. Incidentally some DVD players have excellent sound.

Does the satellite radio receiver captures any signal in India ? Needs a special antenna asaik, I don't think they will capture FM signals.

No, your old WorldSpace receiver cannot receive any stations in 2025. The WorldSpace satellite radio broadcast service was terminated in most regions, including India (its largest market), on December 31, 2009, due to the parent company's bankruptcy.
The company's assets were eventually sold, and the satellites (AfriStar and AsiaStar) are now used by a different owner, Yazmi USA, for educational content delivery and other commercial services, not the original consumer radio broadcasts.

I think the photo posted is the Hitachi receiver. I have the Sanyo receiver made by BPL those days. AFAIK, there is a chip inside that does decryption when you have a valid paid service. My receiver doesn't receive AM/FM, so it is now pretty useless.

If worldspace had not gone bankrupt, I swear I wouldn't have taken spotify, apple music, google music subscription ever. But believe me if you have been a wordspace fan the difference between worldspace and any FM station was like living in heaven and on earth. For music lovers the world seemed heaven like with worldspace streaming music .

Thank you but want CDP and radio and not world space

Would a JVC car radio/CD, Hyundai car aerial and a Sony TV aerial which pulls in excellent FM reception be of any use to a member? The car amp and radio was working 2 y back. Will need DIY. Home collection from Noida only.
