The Movies I Liked

I would rate this 8/10. Very gripping.

I will rate 7. Kathryn Bigelow knows her craft. Its gripping. It delivers what it promises. It does not create a hero. It simply shows non-linearly what happens in a war room when a missile attack is imminent. The perspective is refreshing, well executed. I felt Idris Alba, at times, did what was not expected of him. I saw it on the release day. I admire the attempt.

3/10

wasted time on this
great actors but wasted oppurtunity i think, or i am dumb and did not understand the whole point, but the movie was all over the place and no where at the same time ( if you can get it)
don't understand the hype around this movie
I completely agree about the general hype around the movie being overly exaggerated.

That said, I enjoyed it very much. The movie succeeded in cartoonishly exaggerating/lampooning the flaws of believers of both the extreme ends of the political beliefs at play. And it blends dry/deadpan humor into the narrative really well. It is among the funniest movies I've seen in recent times! Di Caprio and Sean Penn played their roles to a T, IMHO. It was also shot well, and paced well (I can understand that many people would disagree about the pacing). In a time of reboots, excessively slick action, in-your-face CGI, superhero themes and extreme politically correctness, this movie was to me a breath of fresh air.
