The Movies I Liked

120 Bahadur - 2025
2h 17m

My Rating:- 6/10

Based on real events...

Trailer:
My personal take, please feel free to disagree....

Chest-thumping nationalism in full display, Chinese are monster, our Gods/caste/mohallah inspire us better than the country at critical times, Song-dance-romance-melodrama-pot boiling emotion-unsolicited jingoism every thing packed together in this package. hardly any scope of acting, bellow-par dialogues. Only thing that I liked was the way the war was shot, probably credit goes to technology. All-in-all a pretty ordinary, commercial masala film that I expect not to leave any indelible mark! My rating 5/10

Palestine 36 - 2025
1h 55m
Awards - 1 win & 6 nominations

My Rating: 6/10

The movie takes place in Palestine in 1936, a crucial year when villages rebelled against British colonial control.

Trailer:
I am happy I watched it. It did not take any side. Jews clinging to what is offered to them as "promised land" and making moves to stamp authority, Palestine villagers fighting for their homeland, their birthright, British trying to bring resolution with their supreme interest at the top, Arabs trying to unite amidst confusion and lack of coherent ideas. The film has a few intense dramatic moments that thrill, but too less. A meaningful attempt, could have been better. I enjoyed watching it. My rating 7/10

The Secret Agent - 2025
Original title: O Agente Secreto
2h 41m
Nominated for 4 Oscars
58 wins & 106 nominations

My Rating: 6.5/10

Despite being fictional, this movie has a strong historical foundation in Brazil.

Trailer:
I found it nearly flawless. It reflects Brazil at a "mischievous" 70's, addressed systematic corruption, evolution of the society to that time. It shows experience of technological academician (or expert) when returns back to his country after an absence. It shows how he comes to terms with the changes and how he copes with them. Top class acting, highly interesting storytelling. For my a solid 7.8/10. I will be glad if it beats One Battle after Another in its race to the oscars.
