The STAR has been arrived - Panasonic TX-P50VT30 5 star review

I thought it was some launching news in India. .........:mad:grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

But ok.... I know about this , waiting for it big time :licklips::)

Its predecessor the VT20 too was THX certified.

Panasonic's reduced floating brightness(though still very visible) and more stable black levels seem(rising blacks) have very clearly something to do with the overall rise in average black levels in comparison to last year's models

whats the cost of this tv in india ? is it available or can it be imported to india ???
what r tha variable sizes in which it is available & pls tell me about its prices for different sizes...

im using VT20 (in india) since last 9 months and have yet to notice any sign of floating blacks or rise in black level but the black level of this model (measured 0.020 cd/m2 ) is not as low as US /UK models.

By low i guess you meant the MLL is not as dark as the US/UK models ?
The Asian VT20 measured by a K10 , the same instrument on HDTVtest showed a value of .005 ftl at about 200+ hours which is about .0157 cd/m2 pre-rise(compare to 0.009 on HDTVtest) Currently it is being monitored for a rise in black levels
The V20 has been confirmed to rise. At about 1500 hours it has gone to about 0.009 ftl. I believe the initial value of it was around the same level or a nit above the VT20. I am trying to confirm an exact value for this though

I have the V20 and i have not noticed a rise in black level as well . It too has been 9 months for me(around 1000 hours) I believe we should however have a rise in the near future which may or may not be noticeable considering the adjustments are very fine

The VT20 has had very few complaints about floating blacks as such even in the west. HDTVtest reportedly did not see them. My comments were to indicate that there is a relation between the black level rise/floating black phenomenon of last year and the overall average black levels this year across affected models:)

was expecting a lot from title,, you disappointed me a lot..

thought it was released in India.

Sorry dude.

As a confirmation the V20 starts off at 0.007ftl-0.008 ftl pre-rise

Thank you Gfreeman for this invaluable share.I have been on this ever since I read CNET review on the rising black levels of the 2008, 2009 and a few 2010 models. Also read Panasonics's statement in response to the litigation stating their panels are working as designed. Later they announced, all future models (then 2010) will have "gradual" rise in black levels compared to older models (then 2008, 2009) exhibiting "sudden" rise almost overnight. Which brings us to the V20 released in 2010, expecting the rise to be gradual. The older models exhibited an abrupt change at approx. 1000+ hours, expecting V20s to change around the 1500+ or possibly 2000+ mark in smaller increments.

Haven't bought the V20 yet, will have to accept the rise whenever it happens. The rise is also believed to be slow, taking few years to reach significant levels. Quite possibly, Panasonic may have changed the circuitry that drove the voltage high to reach the 100,000 hours (approx 20 - 30 years) panel life marketing claim, onboard electronics are bound to fail sooner.

I highly encourage you to share more of your well researched scientific findings with us, as we will share ours with all too.
