TS+HD - New SOFTWARE downloaded last night

Folks, starting this thread as needed inputs on any improvements observed after software upgrade. Software version I got is "Receiver SW Version: 1.0.4.001 Mar 15 2011".

Only thing I have observed is 720p output is significantly better now (still needs improvements in deinterlacing). Don't see tearing in vertical lines on SD or HD channels only some horizontal lines are bit shaking. This resolution is working better on my HD Ready TV particularly in terms of tearing which is more on my TV in 1080i. Also, edges look finer on my TV in 720p.

HDMI DD5.1 is still not working

I have not checked if recording start/stop time has been fixed now. There were several other issues reported to TS TOP MANAGEMENT and I will continue testing them on this new software to see if those issues are resolved now.

^ Thanks for the confirmation, I don't have testbed to test DD through HDMI. Will highlight this to their top management.

How would you check whether new software got downloaded or not?

Go to Organizer >> System Settings >> System Details

Scroll down and you would see the software version.

Don't remember getting an alert to install it.

It happens automatically. Is the date stamp 15th March?

Well if anyone wanna download the software manually can try dis:

When ur stb is on, close it from the mains without switching off from remote.
After some time switch on stb from mains and when 'please wait initializing' comes on screen, press back button twice and then press 2465. Software will start downloading.

Note- Only latest software available over the air released by tata sky will b downloaded and do not try this many times as it will damage software downloader.

are both tuners connected via a "y" cable or 2 individual cables. for me, the update does not happen unless the tuner inputs are fed by a y cable coming off a single feed.

Mine is not updating either, It's connected by two separate cables. Can someone else confirm how to go about updating and why this box wont update with two cables?

I have 2 separete cables running from the LNB to my stb and when I checked, I have the firmware dated 15th march.

Most of us would not have Y cable connected to get the updates (including me). Best is to contact TS.

What happens when you try the procedure Jignesh has suggested? You may have to wait for several minutes before the update start, thats what happen during my initial software download.

Well this procedure works for SD Boxes, mots probably will also work with HD STB's.

Jignesh Bhai I tried your procedure of hard reset and then immediately after seeing please wait pressed back twice and pressed 2465 and voila, it started the software download immediately! So it DOES work.

For users unable to download the software manually, I would suggest this:
1. Connect the STB through AVI or Component (as most of the HDTVs do not support 576i which is the resolution of the boot loader)
2. On or Standby (doesn't matter - ensure you are not recording something as it will get interrupted during hard reboot and software downloading), power cycle (off and then on) the STB
3. As soon as the STB starts, you would see "please wait, initializing". Press back twice and then "2465" viola, software download should start immediately
4. It will reboot after updating the software and you should have the software version in organizer >> System Settings >> System Details as "1.04.001 Mar 15 2011"

One bug found today - I was trying to forward a recording and the PLAY button stopped responding completely! Rewind and Forward buttons were working. Even after putting to standby was showing rewind or forward indication. I had to finally power cycle and thought of trying Jignesh's method of manual software download/update and it does work.

One more info this trick works for Airtel Digital TV STB's as well.
