Hi friends, currently using taga 806f, 806c ,806s, qacoustics 3020i & HTS 12 subwoofer paired with Denon 1500H, I want to upgrade front tower/center speaker. My room size is 12*17 ft. Confused between qacoustics 3050i & Polk audio RTI A7. Kindly guide. System is used for 80% movie's & 20% music....

Go with Polk. Amazing speakers for movie's. Get the csi6 Polk center speaker.

RTi A7 demands more power.its doubtful with your Denon 1500H for driving it full potential.IMHO

What's missing with Taga?
Maybe you can use the money to add a power amp

Q-Accoustics 3050 are good and I share with Marantz 6004 Amp for music and the Pioneer Vx-Lx303 AV rec. for movies + Q-Accoustics center and surrounds 30..series.. Now you have the 3050i FS. Both the new and older models have 90db + sensitivity and will run well with relatively lower powered amps. Amazing experience so far.

Polk is an 8ohm speaker with 89db sensitivity while the QA is 4-6 ohm and 91db sensitivity. Is QA at 6ohm lesser demanding than Polk at 8ohms with similar sensitivities?
I have the 3050i as well. I love the performance. Plus, i love the looks ( with the grills off )

Yeh QA are amazing to look at, love those curved corners. What's the rest of your chain like? I preferred QA for stereo listening more than HT duties where I found Polk to do better. Did not find Polk as good for pure stereo listening compared to the QA.

I have 3050i and 3090Ci for Center.
Just a 3.1 system for now ( till the dedicated room is ready )
For surrounds and rear surrounds, i have decided QA 3030i. These are good speakers, not a huge performance difference over 3020i, the sound signature is a bit better on the 3030i.

Why only those two? Whats the budget?

I mean Polk is 300w capable if I remember correctly, which Denon x1500 is not justice for the speaker.
X1500 cannot run the speaker to its full potential.

Hope Iam not confusing here.

Oh good, i would still pick the Polk for ht duties. The bigger bass driver and 3 way configuration really sounds great and impactful. More over if you're upgrading the receiver too, then these speakers will shine further.

It's 25 to 300w handling capacity. That's no indication to what load it puts on the amp. I just look at impedance and sensitivity. 8ohms nominal could dip to say 6 or even. 4 ohms on rare occasions, however a 6ohms nominal speakers could dip to 4 or lesser which puts higher load on the amp. That's the basic understanding.

May be.
But my understanding justification is altogether different may be wrong also.
As u mentioned 25 - 300w is the capacity it means the speaker can withstand max 300w with +/- some tolerance.
So ideally your speaker will shine once it reaches the 75% or more of the max withstand capacity
( Say the performance output of speaker is from 0 - 100%) .where the Denon1500 is at max output is 80w which is less than 50% of the withstanding capacity of the speaker, but more juice is reqd to shine the speaker. Thats what i meant
IMHO.
Correct me if Iam wrong.
Oops diverting from the op thread

Hmm no the max watt spec is only the spec beyond which the speaker will start to distort. Nothin else. Since the minimum is well within the limits of the receiver, its all good. Moreover In casual listening 80w is a Lot. If you measure, you may not even touch 20w. But yes, ideally if you are 70-80% of the max limit, then it is good for the amp, lesser chance of overdriving it. Impedance and Sensitivity are still more important specs for a speaker. There are numerous links that can be referred to for this.

Thanks mash....

You are welcome. What are the other options available with your dealer?
