hi,

We have medical device known as COULTER (Cell counter) used for estimation of blood counts and hemoglobin.

How to protect it from voltage fluctuation? What instrument is to be connected prior to it? Its also connected with online UPS.

We have ensured proper earthing, but whether earthing needs to reassessed at particular interval? And if yes, how?

Thx

Hopefully online UPS can take care of the fluctuation. Though for more safety, you can use a stabilizer if the power requirement is normal.

It is best practice to keep checking the earth periodically (for every 3-6), especially during winter season. As it is a medical equipment, it's recommended to check on every month. Just with the multimeter, you can able to find how good the earth is.

Just connect one lead of the multimeter in the anyone of the lower holes and another in the neutral, you should get either 0V or around 220V. If you do not get 0V at either holes, then there is no proper earth and that needs immediate attention on it with an electrician.

why would you want to check it every month? If good Earthing is provided, can last even decades! You will need to redo the salt-coal combo...which is usually not required for every 10-15 years or so!
