Why Vintage Always Win (HiFi Days of 1980-2000)

That's a lot to digest! I'll give up looking at this thread.
Just eager to know what is the day to day go to gear currently, and are these still on Tapes ?
I still use casette once a while.

I am happy that I suggested Mr V to join this esteemed forum, coz as soon as I looked at his collection (in pics that he had shared) I was like, why on earth he isn't part of HFV...

His passion for the magnetic music is nothing I have ever seen with anyone... The amount that he has invested is mind boggling...
I am no audiophile just the type who loves to listen to music but doesn't spend on it much..
For me a DDD Emi cd used to be a dream, never thought the magnetic tapes could be so good that people would be investing so much time, effort and resources into them.

I do own quite many tapes and cds but unfortunately nothing to play them, May be I ll hunt for something decent as well...

I have stopped visiting this thread purely out of jealousy (😜) seeing those awesomely maintained machines, and imagining how great they would be sounding...

Again All the best to you @Analogue_Avenger just wish that you get enough time daily to enjoy them and appreciate the bliss of great audio apart from the sense of possession of such great equipments.

Thanks for your kind words of appreciation. I have stopped buying new now. Only buying what universe makes it cross my path. No more browsing. If any member wishes to learn how i gathered this many machines, I am happy to assist him. Magnetic music is full of more melody and one can listen the music for hours and hours without any fatigue like digital music. As late as 2010, I am not sure of contemporary times, all the master copies were stored on magnetic media. Long Live HiFi Long Live Tape.

Well most of the people today who are into IEM and headphones just can't understand the sheer pleasure of listening to music when it fills the air around you, when it gives the utter satisfaction that all your efforts bore fruit and you have the equipment to listen to the music just the way it pleases your senses...

Last night I was listening to the songs of Razia Sultana and thatof Umrao Jaan (after very long.. I listen to practically all kinds of music from Indian classical to western classical and everything in between) you won't believe I literally cried at the richness of that sort of music (though I was lisneing to my own small setup of google chromecast audio + fosi amp and Sony speakers).. The way the music was surrounding me, the way it was making me feel it, the way it made me wish what kind of bliss Khayyam must have got composing such rich rich songs....

May be your brother thinks differently about the expenses over the equipments, but its all worth...

When I was studying in college, I used to give tuitions and bought my own hi fi system @20k in 1998, and I never regretted my decision even for a second.. My brother too used to complain to the family about my exorbitant expenses just on music tapes and cds.. Lol still own like 600 to 700 collective tapes and cds...

So don't worry... But what I feel is we should enjoy our purchases and shouldn't invest just for the heck of it...

You are officially invited to join me in my studio any day. It shall be a privilege and i am sure we both shall have the time of our life. If you hear my magnetic recordings you will be amazed the potential of tapes. The recorded tapes takes heads on CD playback of same track on SCD-1 SACD Player. The tapes gained notoriety by pre recorded tapes which had cheap recordings and overused tape decks which had rotten heads. It’s the same theory, Garbage in Garbage out which lead to the presumption that tapes are no match to CD a presumption which is grossly misplaced.

That's a lot to digest! I'll give up looking at this thread.

@sbg,
Yes most of my music is on tapes. I have just begun to record music on DAT tapes and the quality and the ability of a DAT tape deck especially the TOTL Sony DTC-2000ES does’nt cease to shock me inspite of my high standards of audiophile music.

Thanks for your kind words, You ate always welcome to join me for a coffee and listen to nirvana music. I would appreciate and enjoy the music with you.
I suggest you should have an audiophile meet in Delhi at your house. Lot of knowledge sharing and spreading the goodness will happen.

Apne meri muh ki baat chin lee!
His collection is truly a "neighbor's envy, owners pride" collection.
What I miss in todays gear is the lack of VU / spectrum meter, I hope others follow the footsteps of NAD like they did with their C3050LE

Dear All,

I have been busy and is just finishing the assembling. Also I will share how a limitless loop of Pre Amplifier can be collected with a single power or integrated amplifier. That ensures that you can play with one Power/Integrated amplifier limitless number of sources or equipment. I will be connecting all 52 equipments with Accuphase Pre-Amplifiers i.e. Accuphase C-2450 and C-2820 and Sony TA-E80ES and Sony TA-E9000ES with Accuphase E-5000 Integrated Amplifier. I doubt it has been tried or archived anywhere in HIFI community…….Will share this soon…

In the meanwhile please find my recent purchases and additions to my studio. A BRAND NEW BOXED Sony DTC-2000ES (Once a million opportunity/masterpiece). Some DAT Cassettes and Legendry Sony ES-90 Audio Metal Cassette and GOLD Edition remotes for Sony ES Series Sony MDS-JA555ES and Sony MDS-JA50ES MD Decks along with TDK XA-74 Blank Mini Disc.

Also check out my Sony MDR-Z7M2 Headphones….:)

Just got my second (Spare) Sony SCD-1 SACD Player from Japan. Also repairing and servicing Akai GX-95 MKII but with little success. Not happy with the sound. I have heard this deck is very capable.
Just got my Pioneer T-1000 Cassette Deck. I discovered that it sounds on a better pitch (Better High Frequencies and Bass) compared to my Pioneer T-1100. This is interesting. :)

Now, Getting my Media Room Organised…… Now after collating it all from different corners of the world, time to consolidate….I am expecting a BRAND NEW BOXED NOS Sony DTC-2000ES and Sony MDS-JA555ES and will share once it arrives soon enough. I am winding up my 3-4 years of search and seizure and buy session and will now initiate consolidating my collection.

Thanks for your views and feedback.

Do you have any birthmark or a tattoo ? Can you sing "Yadon ki baraat"?
So that I can claim we are "Mele mey bichade huay do Bhai" and stay 24X7 in your studio
I'm sure many FMs would similarly make bogus claims to be your long lost brother, not me though!
