Really don't know. I have lux meter with me and mine did 931 nits, I got it before reviewers got it for this reason. I don't think they have switched to 450 nits yet. The problem is that Xaiomi has never claimed 1000 nits and removing it specifically from Indian site is a proof that Xaiomi can get away changing panel with no liability.
P.S Sony does same to Indian units.

How much does a decent lux meter costs?

LOL, people in India telling 8 bit + FRC is not good for HDR meanwhile Samsung's flagship is itself is 8 bit+ frc and has better color gradient than 10 bit q90r.

The panel will never be made in India. We don't have the tech to make a FALD TV with 192 zones yet.

I don't think they'll switch the panel down to below 700-800 nits as FALD is naturally very bright no matter how cheap you make them as it's individually controlled and direct lit TV.

That's very true thinking. FALD are usually brighter. But can you think of any reason of removing 1000 nits from Indian variant? From website.

They never mentioned 1000-nits on the Indian unit. The reason is simple as if they mentioned it people will start thinking about the brightness of their other TVs which are pretty bad.

I highly doubt the panel will be downgraded on this unit since there are no other FALD panels available. For their other TVs they could do it as there are dime a dozen panels with the same screen size and spec and are cheaper. For FALD panels there are very few alternatives.

Also they've started making all their TVs in India now, which should get better with time and QC will improve. So will consistency.

This is the first FALD TV with zero dark corners, sony x900h has very noticeable dark corners. So QC is definitely great. Yeah your point seems right. 700+ nits is great for HDR. I use this at 5/100 brightness

Even I have heard about this from someone in the industry. Their initial batches are of good quality but after a while, they start pushing B grade quality components in their products.
