Xiomi MI TV Box - Support for External Subtitle

Iam planning to purchase Xiomi MI TV 4K Android TV box and while going through the specs it says 'Support for External Subtitles: No'.
Does that mean, I cannot use .SRT Files (external subs)? Please clarify as some of the videos doesnt have inbuilt subs.
