hi
i m looking for a basic good music/ home theater system. my priority is music than movie. my budget is about 40-50k. i m going to set it up in my living room(22x14ft)- non acoustic. i prefer to have tower speaker than wallmount/shelf speaker, but it is not must- mean not on compro of music.

uptill now my long search i liked 6140 yamaha receiver-other is 6130(price 20k and 15k ). 6140 has USB in front and had IPOD/ bluetooth connectivity. thats advantage nothing much. but i m not sure the front USB will wake my ipod or i will need to go for speciall docker. and what else use of this USB.

for speakers i liked NS7800/ 7900 YAMAHA. i asked for YAMAHA yht-8900 but it is not available. - price ranger for 2 tower- i centre+ 2 are coming between 17 to 22 k. should is go for MISSION MHT34I.

an audio expert suggested me denon- DNH 390 XP with speaker(HTIB). is it a better choice. no idea about this

other he also suggested have wharfadale speakers with yamaha v 363. is wharfadale sepakers are better than yamaha. not told which wharfadale.

i m from surat so i have limited choice in store(chroma/ vijay sales).

pl guide me friends.

bye
thank you.

Hi Ghanshyam,

Both, 6130/6140 are good in your budget. bUt, 463 also will be around 20K.

For, speakers Wharfedale is much better than Yamaha. You should go for 9.2 Bokkshelf 15K, which is terrific. Pl audition both yamaha and wharfdale and you will know.
If u insist on Floor-standers, Mission m34I is also very good speaker.

Last thing, regarding your budget, If you want 5.1+receiver will bit exceed 50K.

Here is a recommended setup.

Yamaha 6140/463 20K ( or 6130/363 15K)
Wharfe 9.2 Front 15K
WHarfe mh2 Center+Surrounds 11K ( If there are budget constraints you can go for YAmaha NSP60 center+surround, but it will not be advisable. Better wait sometime and purchase wharfe c+s later.)

You can add subwoofer later if your budget at present doesn't permit.
Wharfe subwoofer 150 18K
POlk PSW 110 13K
Wharfe has also cheaper subs, inquire with dealer which are available. If you really can't afford Wharfe sub even after a while, you also can go for cheaper Yamahha Sub.

There is a dealer called M/s. Absolute Sound Contact No: 098251 33320 in surat, he might be dealing in Denon, Polk speakers etc. For, polk woofer OR other polk speakers u can contact htem.

Regards,

Yogesh.

hi. I would advice you not to go for any yamaha HTiB. While the receivers are very good , speakers that are there in the package are poor. I am using yamaha rxv361(which is same as the AVR in 6130) with home made speakers. I am quite satisfied. When i had auditioned it with yamaha floor stand vs mission m 33i there was a big difference. M34i(big bro of 33i) was out of my budget. So i went diy way and built 3 way open baffles. Cost was rs 8000 for a pair. I am happy that i did not go for the missions.

if your priority is music then i suggest you go for a stereo setup. 2 front speakers and a stereo amplifier. wharfedales are supposed to be good. you can check out the kefs iq series and also the monitor audio bronze series. as for an amp you should look at the entry level cambridge / nad / marantz

Or otherwise, invest in a receiver like Marantz or Yamaha which cater to both music and movies and a pair of bookshelf speakers (Wharfe 9.2) and this will allow you to upgrade to a 5.1 setup in futire.

Hi,

Wharfe dealer in ahmedabad is Loud & Clear, 314, Iscon Arcade,CG Road,. Ph. 079-26420555, 9979711555.

Moviestar is not bad, but it is a sub-sat system. For, Music+Movies Wharfe 9.2 will be better. As I said u can start from 2.1 setup and add surround+cener later. Or If u can stretch ur budget to 55-60, u can have 5.1 rightaway.

Happy Hunting.

hi yogesh
after lots of research on this highly informative/ addictive site by all of u friends, i have zero down on mission 34 or wharf 9.1 /9.2 set up. i want 5.1 set up. mission has edge for me only reason it has tower speakers, which goes with my interior.

so now next point i got stuck is which AVR. intiillay i put my budget for all upto 50 but now i m excedding upto 70k. so pl suggest me AVR in 20-30 k range.

previuosly i was for yamaha 3140, or onkyo 406. but after reading lot into this from you guys. i really think i should go for good avr/amp. one of my friend suggested denon1907, how is it., if i want HDMI compatibility beacasue i want to attach it to sony V 40-new launch.
my problem is i m in surat, which has limited availbility and i can not spare time to go for loook out at other cities..
though i been to ahmedabad the place u suggested loud and clear, but unfortunately thats was sunday and i could not meet anyone there.

In Surat, One is a ProFX ( Pro FX deals in Denon receivers and Polk speakers) dealer Absolute Sound - 9825133320
and there is Vijay Sales Nr Iscon mall on Surat-Dumas Road. 9909926169.
Then there is
Onkyo Wonderland
#M-33 Asconcity Citylight
Surat-395007
Gujarat
Tel:0261-2253656
Mobile:91 98251 33320.

Regrading 1907, it is a very good receiver, but Id doesn,t have HDMI. So, If u use normal DVD, u would not be able to upconvert it to 720p/1080i/1080p. BAsically u would be using ur HD Telly in SD.

Good option in 20-30 K Range will be, YAmaha 463/465, Denon 1709/1610, Onkyo 506/575.
Yannifan http://www.hifivision.com/members/yannifan.html on our forum recently bought Onkyo 575+Onkyo Speaker package for 50K. U can consult him for his reviews.

Yamaha 663 is very goo but, will be 36-37K. Someone in our forum bought it for 29K in Mumbai, but that was last piece with that dealer.

You can also visit Croma for further optins.
