Had nearly finalized Yamaha RX V467 ...
But a couple of dealers (Panacea Infocom, Mumbai n Aquarius, Pune) told me that Yamaha receivers were having problems lately and that their service was taking too long !!!

When I asked what kind of issues they kept saying the issue was mostly "dead" receivers !!!

Conversely the guy from Sahakar Electronics, Mumbai said that there are absolutely no problems with the Yams at all ...
Now this has got me confused as to whether the first two dealers are misguiding me (probably as they don't have the AVR in question) or are they genuinely telling me the truth ???

I have been using the Yamaha 663 for last two years without any downtime...I know of lot of ppl who use Yamaha without any downtime till date....Yamaha uses Burr Brown DACs even in their lowest lines of AVRs, whereas Denons/Onkyos only use the Burr Brown DACs in their Top of the line ranges. You can google Burr Brown for their quality. :) Definitely trying to give you something else.

Thats a rumour for sure.

Its a common tactic by dealers. They would diss any brand / model that competes with whatever big margin item they happen to have.

ya,ahas 5 sereis had some issues'( 365 n 465) i think this thing was discussed in forun.least one member confirmed this about 365 in telecon with me.his friends 365 had power'supply issues many time

Venkat sir and bluefloyed please you can confirm this

Yamaha's xx3 series were giant killers. The xx5 had definite issues which basically was in terms of the reduced capabilities of their power units. Subsequently, the x65 series were unpopular as they could not delivery enough power.

With the xx7 series, Yamaha has resolved that issue. I have been using a 667 for some time, and I see no issues with it, except that I don't like its Menu structure. But that is subjective. As far as performance, power etc, goes, the 667 works very well. I have heard a lot good things about the 467. Actually this is the first negative remarks I have heard about the 467.

Cheers

Yamaha has good reputation & their AVR are of well built too.But recent marketing & costcutting can force any company to compromise on certain things.Built quality of current line may not best compare to older one,but as others said the power issue has been resolved with new series.
@Venkatcr- When did you update from Onk875 to 667?

I don't consider that an update. :) I continue to use and enjoy the 875. I am fortunate enough to be able to use different AVRs in my friends place(s) where they call me for advice, settings, etc. We usually end up enjoying a movie or two together.

Cheers

Issues with xx5 AVRs are w.r.t. Amplifier power. It never had any issues with Quality (Dead units as claimed by Dealer).

i have been using yamaha avr's since the last 6 years and i havent had a single issue with these , the dealers in delhi also emphasize buying denon or onkyo more and a good margin is a big reason behind this, in fact i would like to tell you that its today i have booked the the rx-v3067 with yamaha delhi ,and i m the first one to get it in india :-) just look at the specs and reviews of the 67 series especially the 2067 and 3067 feature awsome technologies at a good price . I would like to suggest you to save some money and go for the 1067 if its possible , also check out the reviews of the rx-a3000/rx-v3067 at audioholics
and you will be happy to hear good things the amps in the 3067 measure better than the famous emotiva's stand alone upa 7 . Yamaha has made very nice changes in their 67 line up so go for it

which dealer in delhi is givin the best pricing for yamaha avr...?

also aminder i'm keen to know why you selected 3067 amongst the 1067,2067 & 3067....

i'm also in the market for a new avr....

sauran...

m using my yamaha rx v450 for last 6 yrs with absolute joy. good built, excellent sound and working in great condition.

the new 67 series are very accomplished avrs. go for it...!!!

i'm having rx-v667 and love its performance both in audio as well as video,there were minor power supply issues in xx5 series but now in 367,467,567... or xx7 it has been fully resolved. After xx5 issue yamaha people went to drawing board and started from scratch and result is the excellent xx7 series with 3d capabilities. power supply has been redesigned and different set for digital and analogue circuitry. These are pure rumours, these dealers will say anything to earn good margin. yamaha has got its own signature style sound quality having dedicated fans all round world. so don't be confused IMHO you have selected an very good VFM product.

I'm also keen on buying a Yamaha receiver, probably the 567 or the 667.

Any good dealers for the same in the Delhi/Gurgaon area?

Ya guys have no idea how relieved I am after your confirmation !!!

Thanks a ton fellas !!!

@Aminder - I don't even have an idea about the price of 1067 (or 2067 or 3067) - guessin they won't fit my budget !!! :(

@mpw
i have posted all the features as stated by the yamaha corp , because you never know what specific feature can be of use for a specific buyer and also i think all intelligent buyers always go through the user manual and brochures of the products before buying them and thats why companies have the user manuals for their products on their websites.
