There is no standard level. YPAO is meant to configure the system taking into consideration the room acoustics. Also it will only give guideline values.
If you feel the need you can still fine tune the automatic settings obtained by changing the values in manual settings
The values posted by you look normal. Why are your surround speakers not equidistant to your listening position? Is this the real measured distance or is it due to YPAO getting it wrong?
To get best results-
1.Set speaker distance accurately
2.Run test tone & adjust levels correctly.
3.Mostly keep all speakers small & CO 80Hz.
4.Use Straight or pure direct mode
So thats simple way can give you better results.
This mode works in HT too.I find in Pure direct original sound is not changed much as no DSP used.It doesnt sound bright too.Dsp makes sound softer.Isnt straight / direct mode only for music listening ? Will try point no 3 and check the difference
Just to clarify:Used YPAO and it really make the difference. Except the sub distance and level as -10db rest all were cool. Increased the sub level to -3db !! And it sounds grrrrreat ....
@spirovious - Will try straight / pure tomorrow and check the difference in SQ.
Thanks guys ....
I need a little help. How can I use my RX-V 673 to play something played on my Panasonic Plasma GT50 through Audio Reverse Channel. I have attached the two via HDMI cable and the same is plugged in to the TV at HDMI port specifically specified by Panasonic for ARC.
Why I need ARC. I have Panasonic BDP 220 but my TV is far more superior player in terms of types of format it can play. I have not encountered a single video file which the TV could not play while this is not the case with the BD player.

Did you do the below for your RX-673:
Enabling ARC (Audio Return via HDMI)
Your TV MUST support ARC! If ARC is not listed in the TV Manual/Documentation, consult your TV manufacture for assistance.
Setup Note: The Yamaha remote will be needed to access the On Screen display, as well as a HDMI TV/Monitor connected to the HDMI output on the Yamaha receiver.
1. Press the On Screen Button to enter the on screen menu.
2. Use the Arrow Up/Down arrow buttons to navigate to Setup and press enter.
3. The Setup Menu will come up.
4. Us the Arrow Left/Right buttons to navigate to HDMI and press enter.
5. HDMI Configuration will come up and HDMI control should be highlighted.
6. Press the Enter button and HDMI control should come up.
7. Press the Enter button and highlight ON and press enter. (Even if it is already on.)
8. The HDMI Control window will come up with and the following options should be set as noted below. (If not you can use the arrow keys to make changes.)
TV Audio Input AV4(Default)
ARC On
Standby Sync Auto
9. Press the On Screen button to exit the Setup Menu.
Already performed all these steps
Troubleshooting:
The steps above are the only settings needed to enable ARC on the Yamaha receiver. There are no other tweaks or adjustments to be made.
If you have followed the steps above and ARC is not functioning, try the following:
1. Make sure that you have a High Speed HDMI cable. Not sure, although the unbranded cable that I purchased from Ebay was said to be V1.4
2. The HDMI cable is connected to the ARC input on your TV. This may be marked ARC, if not consult your TV owners manual for the proper connection.
3. Make sure that you have gone through the proper setup procedure for enabling ARC on you TV. The cable is connected to the port specified for ARC and there is no special setting in the TV for this purpose
4. Power the Yamaha receiver and TV On/Off
Couretsy: Yamaha Corporation.
May be you have in your manual to look at "Connecting a TV page 23".

Hi guys,
I am new to Hifi and planning to buy a new AVR. In various websites and forums, its mentioned that Yamaha avrs has lesser bass or low frequency performance compared to say Onkyo or Denon. I would like to hear from the Yamaha Owners. Also I would like to know the opinion on RXV 573 and 673.
Thanks in advance.
