Hi Guys,

Could you share your thoughts on the 2 AVR's here:
>> Denon X1200W
>> Marantz NR1606

I have heard that Denon is inclined more towards Cinema and Marantz towards the Music. Is this correct?

Please share your experience for the owner of either of the AVR's?

My usage is 80% Movies and 20% Music and I am trying to build myself 5.1 HT for my home.

Cheers

Denon x1200 has audyssey multieqxt when compared with multieq in marantz. Multieqxt has 8 point calibration and better filters than from marantz. Other than this they are almost similar apart from size. I would go with denonx1200. Have you took any audition on the avrs?

Whats the speakers you are going to use?

I feel, it depends on your listening habits. For me its 60-40 between movies and music. Denon is obvious choice for me.

Drive safe,

Marantz supposedly have quality parts compared to denon as I have heard and studied

I am planning to accompany with Paradigm CT 100 or sequentially go for FL/R of Q Acoustics 3010.

How is Q Acoustics and Boston Acoustics as speakers? How is the quality?

I can comment on the Q-Acoustics in general, I use the 2010 series for my F-L (stereo & home cinema). They pair well with any AVR in my opinion. It is not bass heavy, very open mid-range and treble is smooth.

It is very easy to drive them, they have around 88dB sensitivity, however you could look up the specs to be sure. I'm very happy with them, considered buying a 2000Ci for my center speaker but settled for a used HECO due to budget constraints.

That's all from my end for now.

Thanks & regards,
Rajiv

Hi, I used to pair BA A26 with marantz and the result is very very good. However QA is considered more accomplished overall but if you bring in the price points then A26 will give u better value for money. More so since they are suitable for both music and movies. The 6.5 driver works well when used as fronts in HT. Having said that if price is not an issue go for QA. They are surely better speakers.

Hi Balzac

Between the Denon v/s Marantz...Marantz is a definite winner when it comes to performance....I have used the Denon 1200 for a week and after doing all the calibrations etc.....it is hollow and not punchy....when you crank up the volume....it seems to rattle in sound delivery be it movies or music....not smooth like a Marantz....

Both AVRs are made by D & M holdings....Marantz obviously made with better quality parts and design and hence pricey......

You can audition and decide......infact there is someone selling a NR1605 in Hi Fi Ads as he is upgrading to SR series.....provided you are not too keen on Dolby Atmos or DTS X

How is the after sales service of Marantz and Denon like?

Hi

From all the Marantz models I used over the past 4/5 years, I didn't have any issues. I was able to sell them for upgrade and not a single buyer of the old models ever came back with any issues or repairs till date. Ofcourse you need to use the AVR as recommended and not overkill!

Which city are you based in? Besides MZ Audio, there would be other specialist repairers in Mumbai who repair Marantz....

Denon x1200 and QA 3020 / concept 20 would be my suggestion. Receivers are like mobiles, become obsolete very fast. So pick the one that comes closest to your requirements in terms of inputs, sound configuration options, etc. Multieq xt is a much better auto calibration procedure than multieq.

Hope I am not very late in replying to this question. I am using 1200w with QA 3010. I am very happy with the speakers. Not too happy with 1200w, hence upgrading the same soon.

Hi,
My intention is not the hijack the thread. Moderators may move my post if they think apt.

I have a Denon 2300 which I had bought for myself some 2 weeks ago from abroad. Bought it after reading some very good reviews. Now I have different plans to setup a big dedicated HT for which the 2300 would be kind of small, so want to sell it off. The box is still sealed.
PM me if interested!

Thank you all for your response. I bought myself Marantz NR1606 with Boston Acoustics A26 Speakers.

I am loving the experience and the combination rocks. ;)

Cheers!

Hi Balzac

Congrats on the setup.....post reviews pls....we also have an exclusive marantz thread....

@Efernand1: Sure I would be sharing my setup photos. I would provide other details also.

I am on a learning curve currently and trying to understand how best can I calibrate my system for a complete performance. I would reach out to all the FM's for that.

Also, FYI, I started that Marantz Owner Thread :D ; I was amazed that our setup doesn't have a dedicated thread.

So request all the Marantz owner share your thoughts there. :)

Cheers!
