3 way 6ohm speakers under 40k

Hi,

I'm building my system from scratch. Procured a Yamaha AVR 379. Auditioned different type of speakers in bangalore. But figured out 3 way speaker is better suited for my taste and I can avoid sub woofer for sometime. Im also actively looking at classifieds section in this forum. Can some one provide leads ?

For stabiliser, I bought Vguard digi 200, hope this can withstand the AVR, TV and sub woofer loads.

The primary usage is for music so SW is not needed imo. A 3 way 6/8 ohm system will do a great job. I came across yamaha 8390, but itsno longer in stock. Most of the floor standers in this budget range are only 2 or 2.5way which doesn't sound well. The absence of dedicated mid range is clearly felt.

You can look for used Wharfedale Evo 4.2 3-Way bookshelves within your budget and pair well with Yamaha Amps.
Otherwise, you can go with Indiq diamond mishra which is having very good midrange. Since you are in Bangalore you can audition these speakers with your AVR. I have the same and driving with Yamaha 396 integrated and satisifed. You can also bring your AVR to my home and check whether you like the sound. If you feel lack of bass, you can add sub at later stage.
But the best bet would be, save more money and go for best possible speaker setup like Wharfedale denton or super denton if your preference is Music. Speakers will lost long and the investment is justified. If you go for budget speakers, always you have itch to upgrade.

Mishra is 2 way as per their website. Achal is 3 way. What is the pricing?

Wharfedale evo 4.2 is less than 1.5feet in height, even though 3 way. Speakers need tobe affordable. May be due to import duty they are prohibitively unaffordable.

For music, there is a big difference between 2 sand 3 way. 3way is much preferable.

You can try a full blown 3 way speakers from Audio Craft Chennai. Last year when I was in Bangalore and purchased a pre-owned Harbeth my roommate purchased a new 3-way from Audio Craft Chennai. Mr Mark who is owner and designer there is very passionate about audio. Till I left Bangalore, my roommate had it and still now uses it. It has 12 inch bass, 6.5 inch miss with phase plug and silk done tweeter. The speakers were fatigue free and we had many long listening sessions. Its price was within what you have mentioned as you budget. If you want to talk to Mr. Mark, I can make his number available to you. The products from some home grown manufacturers match the international brands costing more than 5x in quality and you have the option to tune music as per your preference.

I don't have any commercial link to the said manufacturer and suggested the same to you as it would be very difficult on your part to find 3 way in the budget you have mentioned.

Most of the modern bookshelf hifi speakers are 2 Way as the people can add sub as per their preferences. Since you are having an AVR, you can go for 2.1 with sub and later you can extend up to 5.1 for movies if required.
Speakers and room are the two main things to get good and preferred music. Don't decide on whether the speaker is a 2 way or 3 way or it is big or small (unless you have space issues). Yes, I auditioned multiple speakers and that's where zeroed in 3 way. Got a reference of Mr. Mark, Audiocraft Chennai who makes custom speaker pair and reviews are good so far. Just now spoke to him. Will also lookout for pre-owned ones in classifieds. Yamaha ns8390 is good

Since you have mentioned 6 Ohms, the speakers my friend got were of 6 Ohms with 92 dB sensitivity. He can customise it as per your requirement. Ex 4 Ohms speakers can go louder and much lesser volume from amplifier

Its better to go in for new ones. You can read threads on pre-owned speaker experience here. There is also risk factor of damage in transportation and dealers not supporting part replacement.

New ones are prohibitively expensive. I'm counting on mark from Audiocraft, Chennai for new ones. Let's see

Speaker minimum nominal impedance should be 6ohm or above as most AVRs are rated at minimum 6ohm. Lower ohm speaker will fry the amplifier

If you happen to like Harbeth kind of warm voicing, he will do that for you. My friend had requested similar voicing and end result was pretty close to my speakers.

Spoke to Mr. Mark yesterday. He had only 4 models ready. V3 is entry level 3.5 way floor stander 120W costing 30k.

I gave specs of wharfedale diamond 9.6 which I had used personally. Mark quoted an approx price of 80k to match closer to that. He is using his own branded drivers.

Yes, I would love to have technics 3 way. But where can we source it ? I had experimented with olx for sony bookshelves, but there is frequently a trust issue surfaced. It is sad that speaker market had become so niche and pricey.
