5.1. Search Ending With Emotiva Setup

Pics will help.

However, I'm assuming your CFLs are on wall mounted sockets. I'm actually talking about floor lamps or special wall mounted lamps pointing downwards to sort of "set the mood". Google some images of home theater lighting and you'll see what I mean.

You should also place lamps in a way that they never shine on your TV/screen but they highlight the audio components. For eg, a photograph on Stereophile from the AXPONA show had a very cool setup where they had put small lamps at the base of tower speakers pointing upwards. It really highlighted the speakers well without looking too jingbang. You can even place lights behind the speakers. It adds a fantastic effect if done properly.

You don't need rugs under the speakers. You are using the spikes already. For the walls, if you can afford some good acoustic panels covered with wallpaper, go for it! It will sound the best but will be a little expensive. Else, you can always just drop in wall hangings, heavy curtains, bookshelves etc. Anything that will help absorb reflected sound and improve the aesthetic aspect. Plants can help diffuse sound and add a wonderful organic feel to a room.

The reproduction was just great , Am happy with my system.

Well 2 More Blu-ray reached last week , GI joe and Cars. Awesome to watch them in Full HD Glory esp, Cars. This can be a ref / Demo disc for all HTs IMO.

I remember watching the GI joe seen a lot with AAD, QUAD and MA RX6 but with marantz 5005 Receiver. No comparison . This ROCKS. XPA-5 has a lot of power and it shows in the High scene chase seq in GI Joe.

CARS movie was a new experience altogether, My 1 1/2 Year old sons now is all in Cars. he likes to see CARS talking so I used to play that from Xtreamer with DD soundtrack. The one in BLu-ray is LPCM at 24bits and you can immediately make out the difference. The sound is more fuller and richer.

Well money well spent, Now to take care of all the CC payments

Blu-Ray Update

Delivery of TDK and Casino Royale Blu-ray was completed today.

TDK - 728.32 Rs
Casino Royale- 763.52 Rs

Both Region Free...

It was amazing to watch both movies in Loss less audio and full Blu-ray Quality. ( I have a 10 GB rips of both movies with DD and DTS for comparison).

Sony Blu-ray PQ is amazing and it doubles up as NTFS HDD connected can play MKV movies with DTS and DD, but not Tru HD or DTS MA clips. At 8K not a bad deal I would say.....

So, how really different was the bluray quality when compared to the rips? At 10feet, can you tell the difference between a 1080p and bluray?

All Blu-rays are 1080P but to answer your question yes , Diff b/w Rip and Blu-ray is identifiable.

the Major diff is that MKVs popular today are DD or DTS whereas Blu-ray have a lossless Track that Brings out the Audio Diff.

As my Fav Director, Sergio Leone said " Soundtrack is 40% of the movie".
