AC RYAN - Play on HD Owners Thread

Thanks for the tip. I'll try doing this. I think this just updates your registry with some new DWORD values.

Will post the results if this fixed my problem.

Hi fellow members,

Aq.tronics Bangalore is offering a group discount for the playon hd without wifi dongle at 7.8k. Any members interested contact Rangaprasad. I guess this is a stock clearance offer, valid till march end. Offer on the mini also would follow this later.

Cheers.

Some one else also posted the exactly same question a few days ago. I think he created a new thread also, sigh..... I don't think any one had any answers to that.

Try out in the POHD forums? The product specialists there can surely help you out, and they're pretty proactive (with the stuff they know) too.

So I have this internal 1 TB Sata HDD plugged into my POHD. When I first started the POHD, I would always get the "Format HDD" message, which I skipped for 1-2 weeks as I was copying my Data from this HDD to another USB one.

Once all the data was copied, yesterday, I used the POHD and formatted my internal HDD (for the first time). The formatting was successfully completed. Although I didn't copy anything back to the HDD soon after formatting.

After doing this, I tried to connect it as a slave to my Laptop, but it doesnt come up. The USB icon appears in the tray and it says Linux Based hard drive.... or something similar.

I tried it in another Laptop, and the Disk Management showed me the 1 TB HDD with 3 partitions of 137 MB each. I have checked on the AC Ryan forums and these partitions are made after formatting via POHD.
Although when I click on the hard drive and try to click and format the HDD, I get an error saying, restart Disk Mgt or restart windows and try again.

I need to know, what can I do so that the drive is recognizable both by the POHD and the Laptop??

Also FYI, after formatting it with the POHD, I don't get the "Format HDD" message request again!

First download the torrent somewhere on your POHD's HDD/ Network HD/ USB using your PC, later browse to that torrent file from your POHD and press the Menu button.

Click on "Add torrent".
Now go to the Home screen, navigate to Torrent and on the left side you would see the torrent download started, with the details on the right side.

All this of course, after updating your FW for POHD

GUI 2.0 Beta Firmware is available since Feb-27

A.C. Ryan • View topic - [BETA] ACR-PV73100 v7.4.x.r2115 Playon!HD

I've tried the beta firmware and the interface looks good. Response is a bit sluggish since some fine tuning is pending.

To me it looks like the HD-Audio support is broken further .
Many HD-Audio test samples which used to work earlier are not playing natively now. But surprisingly a few movies with HD-Audio played well.

Its a mixed bag as far as overall experience is concerned. Try upgrading if you are impatient to see GUI 2.0 in action

Can we schedule torrent d/l like from 022 to 0800? It should start at 0200 automatically and stop automatically at 0800.

Yup, you will need a USB wifi adapter to be connected to the POHD for it to access the network, else you can plug it hard wired, i.e., directly with the LAN cable to the POHD.

Can someone please clarify about the model named POHD+ (As present in the AC Ryan Palyon India Website).

What the difference between POHD and POHD+. This model POHD+ is selling for 7800Rs (And 8800Rs with Wifi N adapter).

The newer model POHD2 is priced at 150 pounds == 10800Rs. Indian equivalent price will be 13K + (my estimate) atleast.

Is this POHD+ good price to buy 7800Rs?

This player POHD+ suits for my specifications except for the lack of USB3.0 and Gigabit ethernet as compared to POHD2. For me USB3.0 and GbE might not be required for another year.

Can any of the POHD users confirm if they noticed significant improvements in the new 2115 beta firmware for POHD release recently?

ACRyan claims they have fixed the BTPD functionality with this Beta. I haven't personally downloaded the beta and flashed my set but I was looking for some one who has a POHD and is able to download torrents successfully in them?

I finally upgraded my POHD to this Beta. The interface looks good. But like most say, way too sluggish to be a market competitor product. The internet widgets are nice. Youtube shoutcast is back again (I have that in my TV anyways) I haven't tried testing different audio samples.

However, I have always had this one common problem in the previous official firmware as well this new beta. During the playback I see a few horizontal lines or scruffs midway on the screen. They dont go all the way from L to R. But are random, something 2-3 in a bunch, sometimes just a single, sometimes pure white sometimes colored.

Has any one else also faced the same problem?

It does not appear to be a firmware issue. I have information on 5+ PoHD's running the latest beta FW and none of them have the issue you've reported. Please get your PoHD hardware checked and if required apply for warranty replacement within its validity.
