Hi All,

I am planning to buy a projector for home use mainly for watching HD movies played thru bluray discs from PS3 and USB HDD and for occasional gaming.
I would be usng my onkyo 3300 for surrounds. The screen size would be 80'' to 100''.

I have zeroed in on Acer K130(around INR 32K) and K330 ( around 39 k).
Is K330 worth the extra 7K or K130 is sufficient for my usage.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Sandeep

I myself am a sucker for lumens... I feel the K330 would be a better bet if u can fit it in ur budget mainly coz of the brightness... Image quality wise too K330 has gotten very good review... So if u can streach ur budget to the K330 then do it... It will surely be worth it...

Hmm whats the range(40k?)... Also what type of room are u gonna use it in... There are diff projectors for dark rooms & diff projectors for family rooms with ambient light... Do u want to stick to LED tech or maybe opt for bulb based projectors which give higher brightness... Pls ask these questions to urself & then point to us a definite requirement... Right now I will just list the LED projectors I feel are very decent in the upto 45k price range... 1st there are the Acer k130 & the Dell M110... Both are 32-33k projectors & each of them have a FM using them & being very happy with them... Then in the 37-40k price range u have the Acer K330 as u mentioned & the benq GP2... Both these projectors are good but I feel the clear winner between them is the K330... Finally in the 45k price range u have the LG 300/301G... This projector although it has low specs it is considered among one of the best LED projectors in image quality... There are losts of options in the bulb projectors in this price range as well...

BTW the Acer K330 comes in 2 versions (XGA 1024x768 & WXGA 1280x800)... Made sure u get the WXGA version....

I think I will have the screen anywhere between 70'' to 100'' .
I have read good reviews on K330.But some reviewers have mentioned about rainbow effect. Is this really noticeable and affect the overall viewing experience?

i am not able to notice any rbe on my k130, though it varies from person to person
if u can darken ur room with 100 inch screen, i fill k130 is ok with 240 lumens in eco mode
though 330 will always have extra lumens for u for future screen enlargement..

think of benq 516 before jumping onto k330, as 6500hrs bulb life is not that bad....
fully professional unit with lots of adjustment and mind it...zoom facility is available for screen adjustment..

Hi Sandeep, I'm stuck deciding between these two models as well.
I'm guessing you've already made your purchase.
Can you please provide the source for the prices you got.
I'm in Bangalore as well, but could not find the K330 cheaper than INR 54000.
The other thing I need your advice on is the audio out port.
I know its on the K330, but is it possible to output audio out of the K130 as well (via the Universal I/O)?
Please help.

Thanks tma, I just took a friends word for it.
Trying to confirm the price with the Acer head office on Magrath Road, as the dealer near my place does not sell projectors. :-(
Do you know of any dealers offering a good discount for the K330?

Edit:
Found the price here.
What was your source?

One of the dealers quoted the price when i was inquiring about the prices for K130 about 2 months back. PM me if you need the contact info.

Hi Tma,

where in blore you got for 39 to 40k? I am checking Projectors in amazon.com where it is $524. I was actually looking for optoma HD66 and Acer H5360 and lookslike Acer K330 is also in same league with LED that too.

can anyone provide me details of any dealers for led projectors in hyd. On Ebay the price seems to be high. I don't have any chance of bringing from US. Any help will be greatly appreciated. would like to get acer k330.
