Acoustic Transparent Curved Screen

Hi all,

I am planning to have Acoustic Transparent screen for my dedicated home theatre room (civil under construction) with a screen size of 130 inches diagonal curved screen, Matt White (2.37:1 aspect ratio) for placing the Fronts LCR behind the screen.

Kindly suggest any brands/dealers and the cost factor.

To the best of my knowledge, curved screens have to be custom built.

Acoustically transparent screens are not readily available in India. You may want to procure the screen material from abroad if Zoher does not stock them. Zoher's contact details can be found here:

In fact, I had enquired Elite & Dalite AT screens and both of these are very expensive.

And thanks for the contact nos of Zoher, I contacted them and it seems their MD is out of country and will be back on 24th of this month.

Have you heard about the company called Galalite, they have perforated screen material with them and have a office in Mumbai, get in touch with them or Lakozy for a customised solution to your problems, oh by the way Lakozy is also present in Bangalore too.

Hi,

I got the quote from Galalite today and they have quoted Rs.26700/- net of taxes + shipping for the perforated (woven type) for 120 (W) x 50(H) screen. When spoken to their person, he told that they don't do curved screen for home theatre and would supply only the screen material. So, I need to arrange locally the frame and after determining the throw ratio have to determine the curve required to remove the pin cushion effect. The person also told that he would send samples of the material. Seems to be a competitive pricing. When asked about the quality, he told that they are in the industry for more 10 yrs supplying similar material to all theatres, studios etc. and moreover these are imported.

So, thanks Ashish for your valuable piece of information.

Meanwhile, I would be contacting Zoher & Co regarding the screen and lets see how competitive its going to be.

Sandman's theater is impeccably done. I was inspired(Anu Malik type) by his theater too.

you can have a custom built screen at ur home.. get a decent carpenter who has experience of building screens..
there is a guy in delhi who deals in draper screen fabrics@120 per sq ft..
he also has several other fabrics starting at Rs 35 per sq ft..

You might want to check out these - these are THX certified curved 2:35:1 ratio screens. Check with these guys if they ship it to India.

Iam yet to get the sample from Galalite and would see both and decide.

Zoher told that they make curved screen frame and will be sending the rates.

Hi All,

I have received both samples from Galalite & Zoher. Zoher had sent me 4 samples which are all acoustic transparent screen. Out of which 2 samples are micro perforated (0.5 cm perforated) and the other perforation of 1 cm gap. In this sample one fabric is HC grey. Pricing Rs.300/- per sq.ft and they don't do curved screen so material to be bought from them and to be locally done.

As for Galalite, they sent me 2 samples one is same as Zoher sent me (0.5 cm perforated - Matt White) and the other sample with a sticker called Accupix. This is fibre woven with 1.1 mm perforations and this is THX certified and is Moire free. Priced at Rs.300./- per Sq.ft. Same like Zoher they dont do curved creen so I need to buy the material and do it locally.

Out of the both, I prefer to go with Galalite - Accupix which looks professional and the rate is also very economical.

Reviving a very old thread, instead of creating a new thread..

A newbie to PJ & screens.. Thinking of regular Acoustic transparent screen, 16:9 100 inch.. Have an Egate LED HD Projector..Not sure abt its availability in India & their pricing..

Appreciate key inputs on the same..

A 100 inch 16:9 fixed frame Acoustic transperant screen from Liberty grand view is 34K :sad:

I had got a normal 16:9 100 inch screen from amazon for 3.5K.. Acoustic transperant is 10 x expensive..

Anyone aware if Indian brands doing them, can be sourced locally for cheaper?

Checked with few more ppl, looks like Acoustic Transparent screen for a 100 inch diagnol 16:9 would cost about 35K Minimum.. Checked with Galalite too, they quoted 40K +..

BTW they come only in fixed frame and no manual pull-down type..

I got a Seymour AT screen very recently.
Read the report of projector screen materials tests in AccuCal: Pipet Calibration and Documentation Services. Even budget screens from Elite and Da Lite are good investments in non-AT screens.
