Had a great afternoon! Nice gear + lot of music + unending supply of beer + great food = thorough enjoyment! Totally floored by KJ's hospitality (thanks)! :clapping:

Thanks to Denom for organising the meet.

:p
Thanks KJ !
Nice Sunday Spent;
Denom / Hemant - good pics.
Mrs. Jilla - Good Food [loved the tea]
All HFV Members - Thanks for coming - good to chat up.
I agree with Magma - The last pic is interesting for sure - I
guess it came out after I left.
I am sure you folks must have enjoyed it.
:licklips:

It is good to see the meet was casual and not an regular one. I could imagine by seeing the pictures why there is no review has been put off immediately. The state of condition of all members were imaginable.

Wholly if we drink and hear music it will be enjoyable at any state and the reviews could be so.

Usually the best stuff is kept for the climax of the meet.
But had I known this would be it, I would have stayed until the end.

:clapping::clapping::clapping:

Looks like you folks had a relaxed enjoyable (and enviable) evening...

Denom, can you put names with the pics...it would be great to associate the names to faces...from the lot I could recognize only a couple...

Great pictures Denom. Thanks for sharing!

Looks like a pretty good turnout in the end ... just the right number I would say.
Plenty of place for everyone to relax and take in the music.

I can recognize KJ, Bhagwan, Ali and of course you.
Care to label some of the pics so we can put some names/handles to the faces?

Thanks Bhagwan for coming, as usual had a good chat & learned something new from you. Next time you may stay longer to partake of another jewel, after all you are a connoisseur of appreciating fine stuff :licklips:

Thanks Srini, I do hope the FM's who attended write about their Amphion experience, now that the 'buzz' level has disappeared :p

Maybe the FM's would introduce themselves, as some might not like to be identified :p

Yes... please put names to faces, so we can put faces to names.

Not wanting to start any controversy, but people who don't want to be identified usually don't go to semi-public functions and don't let themselves get photographed.

Of course, there are photographs which can be embarrassing if seen by wife and family :o. Perhaps some members might have pretended to be out with their girlfriends, when they were actually viewing hifi!

Good One, and how true !

My wife will not bat an eyelid if I tell her I am off to a mall to ogle young ladies but will surely get the heebie jeebies if I schedule a visit to any audio showroom!

Sorry for the late entry. Although the reason is not what some would imagine after viewing the pics. I was busy whole day following some ALTEC and TANNOY GOLD. Got the Altec and missed the TANNOYS.

The Amphion meet - what a great experience!!. Thanks Denom for arranging it.
Khushru and his better half's hospitality was wonderful.

As soon as i reached at around 12.30, i was handed a mug full of brown juice. :D

My parched throat gulped it down to get relief from the hot Mumbai sun. After 2-3 mugs i felt relaxed. What juice was it? :D:D

The music was already on. The wonderful view of the 'ARABIAN' sea (million dollar view), the juice, the soothing music coming from the Amphion mini speakers all made me push back in to the sofa and relax.

Our FMs were taking the 'MAZZA' of the sweet spot one by one. Some good modern music was flowing from the speakers. Introductions and chit chat with fellow FMs continued side by side.

Then lunch was offered. The delicious chicken curry ( what a recipe!!) reminded me of my elder sister's culinary magic. Even the simple 'DAAL' was so tasty. The 'BHINDI & ALOO" was a new combination for me.

Finally the dessert "DUM KI SEVIYAN" took me back to my childhood and my mother's cooking.( The yummy aroma and taste of the finest 'Ghee').

I will remember this lunch for a long time. Thanks, Mrs. Khushru!!.

Then the 'AMPHION FS' demo started.

After some time, suddenly one of my fav songs started playing. I ran to the sweet spot. The music flowed around me. Although i am a vintage speakers lover, i was caught by the speed, and crystal clear highs of these sleek beauties. Even though the hall was very big and side walls were very far, the sound stage and the bass production was quite admirable.

I can't write a very detailed technical review as i am not technical analyst. That i leave to the experts.

It was a Sunday well spent. Loved meeting the fellow FMs. Thanks once again to Denom and KJ.

regards.

PS no 1 :- Don't go by the gray in what is left of my crowning glory, i feel i am the youngest of the lot.:D:D:D

Ps no 2 :- As 'Bhagwan' mentioned, the "pudhina chai" was heavenly.

ps no 3:- The review will be incomplete if i don't mention 'MAGMA's beautifully finished "Audio Rack" and speaker stand. The wood and it's finishing is comparable to the finest imported ones.

was a nice afternoon spent at KJ's. many thanks for being a wonderful host and special thanks to Mrs KJ for the lovely black coffee's which put me back on track that day. :)

One of the nice things about events like this is that one can meet other folks over some music and share notes.

The Marantz 6005 was a different take and the amphion 410 went well with it i thought. The volume knob was not more than at 10 o clock position and the sound was quite loud.

Someday i wish to eliminate the TV in the middle of my rig and simply replace it with an audio rack. I have mentioned to magma a few times.. i would prefer a rack with 3 columns but i suppose i will have to wait for a while.

I think its important to remember that what we were listening to was the chain with the Amphions as the very front end but any speaker ( not just the amphions ) would shine with better source and amplification. This is a truism for any setup and this is not to be -rate the Marantz 6005 in anyway as the combo produced some good sound.

Look forward to hearing more such setups in a focussed manner.

After the 520 was played .. it was inevitable to ( internally / mentally ) debate the 2 driver 410 Vs the 3 driver 520 compact floorstander and i suppose for me the standmount is a take home. Have always been a fan of high quality standmount / bookshelf speakers.

here personal tastes do matter and what floats my boat may not float yours but thats ok.

I think - after actually attending this meet - this is the way to go. Focus your attention on a few chosen gear rather than getting carried away and confused with multiple choices.

I understand there will be atleast 1 more event like this in Mumbai and KJ would be showcasing some other stuff too from his stable.

I for one, am looking forward to hear the Ion+ and the Argon 1 or 2 or better still Argon 3 with better amp.

thanks once again to KJ and Denom and  to more meets like this.

I enjoyed the few hours i spent.
