Dear All,

Hi My name is Bandan and am new to HiFiVision.

I have an onkyo AVR 603 which is mated to sonodyne sonus 5.1 speaker system. I have been using this system for more than 5 years and had a fairly good response, but with changing inputs/ outputs like HDMI 1.4 / USB etc my AVR looks out dated.

I want to buy a new AVR and am confused as to buy just the AVR ( Which One ) or the complete Bose Acoustimass 15 III and mate it with Onkyo 616 / 717. This system is to be hooked to my projector and has to cater to 450 sq ft area.

Kindly help.

Regards

The onkyo receivers namely 616 and 717 are good, but stay away from bose speakers. If you want to upgrade your speakers, then look into brands like KEF, Monitor audio, Wharfadale, etc.. all there brands have speakers to suite your budget.

Is your budget for Receiver + Speakers (or) Just Amplifeir ?

For a 450 Sqft, you a need a Solid power amplifier... A receiver will not do justice...

Look for a multichannel Pre Amplifier / Power Amplifier Combo (or) atleast a receiver which has pre outs so that you can add a power amplifier....

Sonodyne had a multichannel 6 channel power amplifier....But i believe it was disontinued....Try scouting for them (Used)....They should be monstrous with 1350 VA power for 6 channel.....

in such a big room power amp or int amp will be good after avr.
sadly avr with pre outs are costly...and low ends who actualy need pre out donot have pre out....
stay away from bose...
as you already have the speakers..can buy new speakers set later..first buy the avr and amp if you feel needed...
or as you have a good budget can buy a pair of fronts floorstanders now.....
many spaekrs brands...listen and choose...
wharfe/paradigm/MA/dali....tannoy....many mmore
