hello,
ppl i hv pinnacle pctv capture card 110i which i use to record tv shows and then write them on dvd ...but i m really disappointed with the picture quality...it is horrible...although audio is decent...i hv faced many issues...
ppl pls see this link
how to remove noise from my recorded videos

i would really appreciate if u go thru the thread i hv craeted...it explains everythin about my prob with the capturin of videos

now i would like to knw...should i buy a new capture card...if yes...which ?
i want the best quality....price is not an issue at all...
i use 22inch lcd and i would like a capture card that can give good picture qualiy even at 22inch nd higher...basically it should hv high pixels...

i m currently using tv analog wire for tv reception...should i change that for better quality...should i go for tata sky or airtel....for me quality + recording are the prioritis nd the recorded video should hv the same quality as when we watch....

pls show me the way forward...i m really frustrated with poor video quality on my pc .....

although i m not much of an expert on this.. but tried the same with cheap usb based card(having composite inputs) by using windows media encoder/vlc streamer/virtual dub with almost similar pathetic pq (320p)..around4-5 yrs back
i stopped recording since then..
the card that u have seems 5-6yrs old..
try to get hands on something which has hdmi input(one of them:Avermedia AVerTV HD DVR PCI Express Video Capture Card in Computer Video Capture Equipment at JR.com) and get a sun direct hd subscription
with digitial input, u surely wd get 720p recording

well...i m a newbie in terms of video recording....what exactly is hdmi input...i saw the card...looks good....will this card provide high definition video quality with good pixels nd clarity at 22inch or higher....if used along with sun direct hd....??
and what exactly is 720p...??
pls lemme knw on this ...:)

thnx for ur reply :):)

hdmi(HDMI - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) is the format used for get hd input signals.. more importantly it is a digital signal which means no signal loss due to poor connectors/wire quality.
composite (Composite video - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) or component (Component video - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) both are analogue

coming to what 720p is.. it means 720 horizontal lines.. the more bigger the monitor, the more visible would be the difference..
(Display resolution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

what ur current card is capable is a max of 288p or 576i, which is also dependent on the quality of the cable and the connectors..

search for more PCI express based capture cards which have HDMI or DVI (Digital Visual Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) inputs..which are both capable of carrying high def digital signals..

you might also consider looking for a DVR (Digital video recorder - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) if you plan to record from multiple sources

i wd recommend u to initially check the recording from any sources which provide HDMI/DVI output such as PC/DVD/BD player and then check the available options for broadcasters who provide HDMI capable STBs .. i suppose apart from Sun, Reliance is another option, but u will have to check that..

once u are through with the video part, then u need to explore the audio options.. which is mainly selecting sound cards with good analogue(RCA) and digital(SPDIF) recording options .. ESI@Juli immediately comes to mind..

i would also like to knw that the channels that i want to record are not in HD....so will their quality be good or same as normal analog tv with lot of noise ??

apart from a few channels such as discovery, national geographic and some south indian channels, all the others are up scaled SD.. but all wd be any time better than the normal analogue ouyput
