I've seen many threads on other forums that list favourite CDs to show off speakers. Common ones found across are:

Pink Floyd: Dark Side Of The Moon

I am trying to get an Indian list going.....Pls add to what CDs you think are worth showing off, and why...

I would preffer psytrance acts like Infected Mushroom and Astral Projection to show off a system. Try:

Infected Mushroom - Classical Mushroom
Infected Mushroom - Converting Vegetarians
Astral Projection - Dancing Galaxy

I would suggest telefon tel aviv's fahrenheit fair enough and ilayaraja's multilayerd composition 'how to name it'

Classical:

Bach's Cello Suites, Nicol Paganini's Violin Concerto's performed by Itzhak Perlman, Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition (particularly, Night on a Bare Mountain)

Metal:

Metallica - Enter Sandman, Mastodon - Oblivion, Pearl Jam - Even Flow, Led Zeppelin - Black Dog.

mark knopfler / dire straits has one of the best balance when it comes to recordings. very neutral and good sound separation. clear and crisp. and money for nothing really kicks a$$

michael buble is also very good. full and forward vocals, excellent range of instruments with the horns and the strings - really low down on the strings and high on the horns

if youre doing a dvd then eagles hell freezes over is great. hotel california and heart of the matter. the other one thats really good is the live version of under pressure by freddie mercury and david bowie

Get some of the audiophile recordings/test discs like the ones from Marantz, Usher, Dali etc

A tamil A.R Rehman album called Thiruda Thiruda - Some of the instruments in this album can be heard only in good systems

East meets west - Ravishankar and Yehudi Menuhin

Kadri Gopalnath 2002 Saxophone Volume 3 - Charsur Digital Works, amazingly soft saxophone

Jethro Tull Acoustic album
