Welcome to the forum!

Just want to point out that it's fine to do a little price comparison over here. But if you have a "minimal understanding of this stuff" - just do the right thing and pay your local dealer for his time and knowledge instead.

Don't know about the speakers but the price quoted for Denon 2400 avr is too high. Moreover its a 2 years old model, the latest one is 2600h. Denon 2400, you should be able to get for below 50 k

Hi Nikhil,

I know in the end i am gonna pay the dealer for his time and knowledge but i just wanted to make sure that i don't make a wrong decision in trusting the dealer or if i can get something better for similar cost

Welcome to the forum. Since you are getting a dedicated room my advise is you plan for an avr that can process 9 channels so you can set up a 5.2.4 set up. The avr they have suggested will Have 2 sub pre-outs but not dual individual sub outs for processing dual subs and won’t even have pre-outs for an external power amplifier.Plan wisely so you won’t get the itch to upgrade for some time. Go for the Marantz 6013 which is a 9.2 channel avr and can process upto 11 channels. First you can get a very good 5.2 set up and later on add 4 speakers for atmos. LCR Bose they have quoted 1.2L. You have a lot of options in that price range. Plan for dual subs and a 5.2.4 set up. You can easily achieve this with the budget you mentioned. The subwoofer they have suggested is also not that good and you won’t get the satisfaction. Please research more on the brands available and invest wisely. IMO a 5.1.2 set up in a dedicated room as yours and the products the dealer suggested will definitely end up with you wanting more

+1 to Love4sound.
Given the kind of budget that you have, you can do many folds better than the one suggested by the dealer. Please spend wisely and see if u can keep away from Bose and invest in some actual hi-fi gear.

If you are open to consider more expansive set-up in your budget, you may consider this..

My room is 11ft x 14ft.

AVR - Denon x 3600 / Marantz SR 6013 / Pioneer LX 303 / Onkyo TX-RZ 730 all are capable 9.2 AVR.. Any one of these would do for your needs.. Check with the dealer if he can accommodate any of the AVR in place of Denon x 2400..

You can comfortably do a 5.2.4 set-up in your room size..

Subwoofers - two subs for your room..

Speakers - I would suggest Arena 120 x 2 pairs for fronts & surrounds..
Arena 125 for center..
6ic in-ceiling speakers x 2 pairs for 4 heights in the room..
Dual JBL sub 100..

If you are fine to overlook the speaker suggestion by dealer, you can comfortably do 5.2.4 in you room..

Before you pull the plug on Pioneer LX 303 you need to know two major draw backs for the avr. First it does not have individual crossover settings for each speakers. So you will have all the speakers crossover-ed equally which is not at all ideal in a HT set up. second is no pre-outs. 503 has pre-outs but again no individual crossover settings. I would strongly advise against the pioneer 303. And also not sure if it has individual bass managment for dual subs. 3600 or the 6013 will be a much better choice. AVR's have very less re-sale value and pioneer will sell for a much lesser price then Denon or marantz. Not to undermine Elango's choice but the 303 is a very bad choice in my opinion. Your wish so you decide

Which AVRs have individual crossovers? And, generally, what setting would be good for each speakers?

I meant for each speakers. I used Denon 2400 and it had individual crossovers for each speakers. Currently using 4500. It depends on speakers and your liking. After a lot of tests I have set the LCR at 90, surrounds 100 and atmos at 110 which sounds the best to my ears

Building a great sounding HT system within limited budget is a great task for individual. 400k is very good budget to get great HT setup if you personally take interest in designing , audition and selection of components. You may save lots of money and will have premium equipment within that budget. You need to do a lots of home work , audition, negotiation and must have patience and time while selecting individual components rather than one box solution provided by dealer. Dedicated room for HT is a luxury and not every one can afford to have it. So needs to utilize this advantage to upmost level as room and it's acoustic plays a key role.
Initially split your budget according to various factors from acoustic treatment to different components and later on search for best bang for money components within that budget. Always keep a window for future upgradation or expansion as it is the definitely happens within few years. This is a great journey of few months and you need to enjoy it to the fullest. You will gain lots of knowledge within your journey and can enjoy your HT set up in better way
There are certain components consider best within the budget and have great sound quality and features.Instead of making things complicated, I will suggest few components that I have auditioned and found great for HT as set-up. You may add them in your audition list
AV Receiver.....
Denon AVR x4500h/x3600h , Marantz SR6013/14.
Speakers...
Elac Debut.2 FS/BS and Center
Q Acoustic 3050i/3020i and Center
Polk Audio OWM5 for Atmos are easy for mounting.
Subwoofer...
None other than SVS or XTZ
Hope this may be helpful in your audition. FM will guide you time to time if you keep them inform about audition, Price and product availability.

Np.. I understand what you are saying..

First it does not have individual crossover settings for each speakers. So you will have all the speakers crossover-ed equally which is not at all ideal in a HT set up.

Individual crossover is good.. But if the AVR doesn't support that feature, there is global crossover.. A 90Hz crossover for all speakers will be good enough..

And also not sure if it has individual bass managment for dual subs.

There is bass management in the AVR, global crossover.. Most calibration would detect the 2nd subwoofer and set distance for it induvidually.. It is only the EQ part where thy differ & may be not as good as sub EQ HT in Audyssey XT32..

The reason i included LX303 in his list was price.. This would be the most inexpenisve AVR.. With Denon x 3600 just announced, prices may be high.. Also Marantz 6013 would cost more than a Lac with dealers.. So almost 100% increase in his AVR budget.. Hence the inclusion..

Which AVRs have individual crossovers?

Most mid-end AVR would have this feature.. Unfortunately, Pioneer seems to be least concerned abt this feature in their mid-end offering..

And, generally, what setting would be good for each speakers?

A generic crossover of 80 / 90Hz is good for all speakers to route the bass to subwoofer.. Some prefer low crossover of 60Hz in case of towers.. But 80Hz all around is good enough..

I think the Marantz 6013 can be bought for 85-90k with discounts. IMO he can first set up a good 5.2 and then add 4 top speakers. For a dedicated room I think he should go for an avr that is future proof and 3600/6013 fits the bill. He has around 2.5L excluding projector for avr, speakers and subs. 90 k avr and dual subs and in 30k bracket(bic f12) so that comes to 1.5L. Remaining one lakh he can easily get decent speakers.

Finding 6013 for 90K is a big deal with dealers.. It would be more.. As long as the user can fit in his budget, just fine..

I have used the psw125 and sold it in 6-7 months as it was very bad. Hope you have had a demo of the speakers and subwoofer that you have finalised.

Kindly let me know what do you guys think about the below system and please provide your valuable suggestions.

If you can & wish to, you could do S20 all around, as center speaker as well.. Otherwise you package seems good.. Add one more sub if you can either now (or) later at your convenience..
