Can someone explain the following main difference (One-cable HD solution) I could observe in 1611
1)Supports HDMI 1.4a with Audio Return Channel
2)All sources are up-converted to HDMI

Is this a important feature worth the difference in cost ?- Please help me decide

Audio return is needed for 3d as far as i know, regular stuff doesn't matter, all sources upconverted (input) like composite, component have single cable HDMI (OUT).1611 has audyssey and speaker calibration which is missing in 1311,the rest is the same,1611 is worth extra.......

Audio return is not for 3D,but a feature that can make a trafic both way which is with HDMI 1.4.
ie if you config AVR as 5.1,you can get a TV audio back to AVR,so extra cable is not needed.

I repeat this question, which was posted in another thread (and yet to find an answer)

Is HDMI 1.3 is capable of giving 3D signals at 1080p. Refer this link HDMI 1.3 Will Support 3D After All | High-Def Digest

Also the following link Panasonic DMP-BDT350 Review (search for "2 HDMI outputs") tells that BD player with HDMI 1.4 cannot be connected to AVR with HDMI 1.3, and this specific panasonic player comes with both HDMI1.4 and HDMI1.3 outputs so that video can be directly fed through HDMI1.4 to display (LCD/LED/Projector) and audio can be fed through HDMI1.3 to AVR.

Is it true or something wrong in my understanding? If that is true does it mean than if I buy an AVR with HDMI1.4 port, I wont be able to connect my other components with HDMI1.3 to it?

Can you also please explain the 1611 claim "All sources are up-converted to HDMI" Does it mean that my video input from the set up box will be converted to HD ?

Upconvertion is to route & not upscaling ideally.ie component in signal will be output from HDMI.

Samsung 3D LED have 1.4
Most new model of LED/LCD Televisions wihich supports hdmi 1.4 should be able to support ARC. It is more of standard of HDMI rather than the TV itself to support Audio in and out on one physical HDMI connection and avoid one more output cable going from the TV to the AVR.

People please check the date of the last post before posting a reply. I wonder how people dig up these really old threads.
