Hey Folks! I can't decide which want AVR to buy Denon 1911/Yamaha RXV 667/Onkyo 608.Read that 608 has connectivity problems but THX certified with 10 watts/ch more power.I am keen for 50:50 movies:music, connecting them with Sirocco 5.1 package.Later, adding Wharfedale Diamond 9.5 with another sub .Either Polk PRO 600/Velodyne Impact 12. Please share your experiences and give me your valuable advice.

denon 1911 is best bet ,10watts per channel doest make a big impact in listening.......thx certified is just a certificate given by thx,if u want to get that thx certified effect u must have thx certified speakers and thx certified speaker placement and thx certification alone wont make a big impact in selecting a avr asaik...........

Can you be more specific? The 608 has been declared as the best receiver of the year, so I am curious as to what your are talking about.

Cheers

This has HDMI handshake issues with multiple devices. You can search on avforums for specific examples.

IMHO yamaha rx-v667 is good VFM for ur taste of 50:50(music:movie), it has a good warm sound when paired with wharfs, its earlier model rx-v665 was not sucessful due to power supply issues, now they have re designed its power supply with different set for analog and digital circuitory. rest is all you pesonal choice go for auditioning with intended pairings and yours eyes and ears would let you know what you like.:)

My experience is: Yamaha is less fussy in HDMI switching and up-conversion, whereas Onkyo has a better room setup system in Audessey technology compared to YPAO of Yamaha. Very little between them to choose otherwise.

Thanks Denom.

By the way do you have any info as to what to look for in an AVR,

After purchasing SONY 40 inch bravia led lcd,i am somehow reading more about the Sony AV recievers and needless to mention i am impressed with BRAVIA Sync.

Hi abyshines,

suggest you get a demo of the sony avr's with the same sony tv you've purchased at any nearest sony world, only then will your questions be answered, as ultimately you have to be most satisfied with your avr pairing with the tv(Bravia Sync as in your case)
So do make a trip to sony world & judge for yourself,

Rgds
