DIY 10 Inch Subwoofer

IMO, if it's a vented design, stuffing should be minimum. You should be only adding felt to the back, top & bottom panels that too not more than 5 mm thick. For a vented design air inside the enclosure and panel reflections are required for it's optimum performance. If you can measure impedance then it should give you a good indication of how much stuffing should be enough.

That's the main concern, I don't have the tools to measure impedance. Everything will be on my ears. I have also purchased a small mobile application to measure the frequency response. I will measure the reponse of pink noise in it. At least i will have some idea.

Update: Assembly of Plate and Heat Sink.

Wow that looks super neet. Any youtube video possible to get a feeling of it?

Maybe I have missed, what would be price for such a Sub? You could PM if its too early to disclose.

What's the reasoning behind the felt on 3 panels only and the 5 mm thickness?

What's the reasoning behind this?
To allow the air mass to build up in the vent and to prevent change of tuning frequency of the speaker system. The best way is to measure impedance and stuff till both impedance peaks are equal.

Is there any need to add felt on the back side of the front baffle? It will have some plain area around the woofer.
Air pressure will be maximum on the back panel immediately behind the woofer and will reflect back through the woofer cone. Adding felt on the back panel would tame reflections a bit.. adding on top and bottom would prevent some standing waves. Only standing waves will be from the left and right side and all other will be smaller in strength compared to this. This is required for a vented enclosure to work properly.

Lining walls is ineffective. It's old theory! And with 5mm whatever? Don't waste your time and money on that. If you want it to be somewhat effective line all sides with thickest absorbent.

Standing waves are of no concern in a subwoofer.

Just stuff the box and measure like what Hari said making sure the density is greatest between front and back wall.

To allow the air mass to build up in the vent and to prevent change of tuning frequency of the speaker system......
What? How is "air mass build up" a function of thickness of the lining and number of walls lined?
Are you saying that this will not be achieved with more than 5 mm thick material? And with lining more than 3 walls?

stuff your bo heavily and check out if you are curious.
Stuffing a box is quite different from lining the walls of a box. My question was specifically about your suggestions about lining. And more specifically with your suggestion quoted below.
You should be only adding felt to the back, top & bottom panels that too not more than 5 mm thick.

Q1. What happens if in addition to back, top and bottom panels, one lines the 2 side panels too?
Q2. What happens if one lines the back, top and bottom panels with more/less than 5 mm of felt?
Will be obliged if you can provide specific answers. It will help me/others build better performing boxes.

Try out and see is the only answer I can give. I don't have a vented enclosure box with me else would have measured impedance and posted with 3 wall lining and 5 wall lining with 15mm felt sheet

If you have one box then we can experiment if you wish .
