got optoma hd 20 in india

hi .all pj guys.
finally got the optoma hd 20 in india (mumbai).
got the projector at 60,000 rs .
the picture quality is amazing ,colours too are enhanced.
i got a onkyo 3400 with sony bdp 370.
i got a manual pull down screen.
i wanted to ask that can i run the pj without a/c
can we know month of manufacture from serial no
the pj had a bubble pack inside, and the remote ,batt was sealed
warrany card ,quick install leaflets.
the pj is awesome
do i have to run the pj in bright mode for 1st 1o hrs?

Not necessary But with A/c will you will have a an good feel while watching movie + screen will not swing and you will not get distracted.

Without a/c?

It depends on the city/climate/season. I have used a/c sparingly in summer, but 90% of the time a couple of fans in the room is okay.

If you have your HT in basment like mine, you could almost do without a/c, but I have a/c mainly for fresh air cirulation and ofcourse some times when I become conscious of the noise of the fans.

hi guys.
i got optoma hd 20 in mumbai from pooja electronics Bombay central nr tardeo . it is a small shop but having lots of pjss.
u name them and he has it. his price is very competitive.
i saw nearly 40 pjs in his shop , may be more in his godown.
they are more into selling of professional film projectors and mixers etc.
i got a very good price for pana 4000 1lak 5000 rs only . pana 7000 for 1lak 75,000 only ,as i dont know the market price of pana 7000.
screens also were cheaper nrly 20% less than what i got outside .
they have two shops one in mumbai central ,other in andheri-w laxmi ind. i got a manual pull down one. i did not go for a very branded screen as i can upgrade it later size is 5x7 ft. it is ok for my room.
if any one staying in mumbai want a demo for pj one can approach him. some shops in lamington market not intrstd in giving demo of movie pjs. so wher to chk the picture quality how it is. no mall sells pj in mumbai. like lcds and led tvs .

why does dvd not look good on my pj. the pict qualty is soft , no sharpness . there is no detailing of the picture.
the same dvd is more clear on my lg 22 hd rdy lcd.
only blu ray loks crisp sharp and very good pict quality on pj
any settings to b done. i know that blu ray is 1080 p and dvd is 480 p
then why better in lcd ....?

Resolution upscale circuit in your TV is better than your PJ

As the PJ is HD it will play 1920X1080 in detail...and accurate..but if you are running anything..less than this..it will not look good....even you can try this on your LCD tvs which are HD.

That's because your LG tv size is only 22"? Nevertheless, the resolution is not so noticeable on the smaller screens compared to the big screen that Optoma throws. Remember, you can notice difference between 1080p vs 720p when you stand at 1x picture width. Now compare that with your tv and you will notice.

I would recommend buying a good upscaling player if you watch lot of DVD's. Although, you will never get close to bluray quality using upscaling. Just a caveat emptor.

to my dear pj friends .
i have not fixed my pj to wall mount. i gnrly remove my pj the power , hdmi cable daily becuse of dust problem. my question is can the connector go wrong , or get losed . some day. do we get hdmi to hdmi ext so can remove the cable without distrbng the pj. or if i wall mount pj next to my window i have to cover it proprly with atleast 2 covers . so it wont get dusty.

Generally the projectors are fix-it and forget category. Not a good idea to disturb it too much. If you keep on removing or switching the HDMI cable, definitely the connection and socket will become loose or tend to break. You can use the HDMI Adapters to avoid this :
