HD DTH comparison

Buddy,
I have checked the same as i have videocon hd d2h.

there are dolby digital tracks in Colours HD and Star HD channels.

And as i mentioned earlier, the my decoder shows the audio feed is dolby digital and the audio experience also is 5.1.

I hope this clears the confusion.

Thanks,

Dijeesh.

Thanks for confirming. How about Movies Now and other HD channels? Is Movies Now still not coming with DD5.1?

Can you tell me how to get 5.1 sound in Videocon D2H?
I have tried every cable and am not able to get it, would be great if you could elaborate it further or may be a step by step guide as to how to do it and what components to use.

Thanks

hi.i am assuming that you are using digital coaxial cable to get dolby tracks.in the hd channels where dolby track is available you would be able to see "2" near the speaker sign in the status bar. Then press the yellow button and you will be able to see the audio tracks.the default track is stereo.change this to secondary track which is dolby. Hope this helps. Thanks. Dijeesh.

Hi All,
Please let me know if any one changed to SD package in Dish TV HD settop box.

Thanks

I have both a SD and HD connection of Dish TV, however as per my knowledge the HD box does not support SD so you need to purchase an SD box separately since apart from the box the LLB (receptor on dish antenna) is different in HD and SD.

Completely torn between Videocon, Airtel and Reliance HD.Since PQ is more or less the same across the board, the deciding factor would be

- Sports HD channels
- Movie HD channels
- Multiroom connectivity.

Also, will there be any signal degradation with multi room connectivity since all those have to run off the single dish??

hi,

i have noticed today that,in videocon hd d2h there are no secondary dolby tracks now.

i saw dolby digital logo in star plus channel, but my decoder is not recognizing this as dolby.

has anybody noticed this .

earlier there were secondary audio tracks(dolby) and we could select those.

now it is missing in all channels.

thanks,
Dijeesh.

DishTV's website shows which SD packages are included as part of their HD packages.

HD box handles SD as well. However the channels you can view depend on your package.

HD box hardware contains SD capability as well.

Interesting. What this openbox HD STB ? can you explain few things about it including cost?

Do you install a seperate antena for this or hook on to the Airtel's/Tatasky's Antenna ?

Do you get all free channels ? My requirement is on some devotional channels like Sankara TV for which i have to retain the useless cable tv connection. Would be happy if this can catch such signals ?

Could you post a summary of free channels that are visible. Again when time permits :)..

Thanks..

am shopping for a connection.

hav been using TS upto now on a shared dish (each supports 4 conn, so).

need to add a tv so need to move to a dedicated.

consequently, since this means starting afresh, considering all options.

since ur inputs aren't too good on TS, wondering what is the present best option, in the delhi ncr area.

thanx!

I would never go for DISH HD. Considering, I have owned the SD for over 3 years and had really bad customer support.
The D2H wins my vote for being the most economical package alone with pretty good PQ. The HD Channels are sufficient for every type of user and the recent update brings video recording in Non-DVR STB.

Some genuine problems I have seen with the Airtel HD DTH :
The Package is quite expensive. By quite expensive, it is not worth the money paid. The quality is not that great.
Crappy Airtel Customer Care Support. Their new services are often stagnated with bad support services.
Problem in updates. Airtel did eventually launch the IPTV as the next big thing. But, now they discontinued it due to bad policing and lack of updated support(HD-Support).
They Promise too much, but give too less.

I haven't much used the TS so I do not comment about it. However, one of my friends owns it, and regrets after seeing the D2H.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
