Went for Airtel HD Connection 2 Weeks Back. Must Say that the whole process right from the initial enquiries to the installation and the After Sales Service has been excellent. Not to mention about the Picture and Sound Qualities. Excellent. Hats off to Airtel.

yes i have tested this through coaxial cable.My decoder showed dolby digital input when i changed the audio track in Star channels.

No utv stars in HD channels list.
Colours HD is true HD only.So you won't miss anything on whats happening inside Big Boss house hehe.
No idea about History channel..

Tatasky, While their customer service is good they struggle to add new channels. They are much behind. They recently added ESPN HD and say that we have not hiked the HD pack price. While this is consolation, it does not make sense reallymas i'm yet to get Movies now, travel hd etc. The showcase does not have any interesting movies as such. What ever bollywood movies comes to them would get aired in StarPlus or colors or zee simultaneously or later. So no great Advantage. The recording facility is helpful. Hope others too have it nowadays. For 225/month i have chosen a least package with HD. Its more of consolation. No jingalala at all .
BTW i just notice in Tatasky packages that few channels like NGC,Discovery, Starplus where part of most of the SD package as well as HD. These redudndants are waste of money. How are the D2h and Airtel packages placed ? Is there much of redundants across packages ?
Has anyone surrendered their Tatasky HD+ ? Whats the process? Any refund ?

Interesting. What this openbox HD STB ? can you explain few things about it including cost?
Do you install a seperate antena for this or hook on to the Airtel's/Tatasky's Antenna ?
Do you get all free channels ? My requirement is on some devotional channels like Sankara TV for which i have to retain the useless cable tv connection. Would be happy if this can catch such signals ?
Could you post a summary of free channels that are visible. Again when time permits

Mate, no surrender or refund process.....better to give it to some friend of yours.....like i am doing...

surely HDD sound cant mean 5.1 audio, unless the site has not been updated. Their HD service started without 5.1 support for sure, unless now they might have updated their service with 5.1 support.
okie, dead end.. Have to fish out for any dis-satisfied Airtel HD owners in the near vicinity

I have checked the same as i have videocon hd d2h.
there are dolby digital tracks in Colours HD and Star HD channels.
And as i mentioned earlier,the my decoder shows the audio feed is dolby digital and the audio experience also is 5.1.
I hope this clears the confusion.

Can u let me know if Sun HD gives 5.1 thru HDMI itself or does it require an Optical our SPDIF out?
I don't know that since I am not a Sun subscriber. I'll appreciate if any of their subscribers can post an answer here. I'll update my new page accordingly.
Sun HD typically use Samsung STBs which never had any such pass through issues AFAIK. So there should be no issue passing 5.1 stream through HDMI.
