I was thinking of creating a new thread for my htpc, but unfortunately my camera was not with me to snap the images during the assembly. Dismantling the components and assembling again is not easy. But I can post the images of the interior and exterior. The LCD screen works with XBMC perfectly, but the pad remote is crap. I'm using the hp mce remote for now. I configured windows to hibernate instead of shutdown so now my htpc is up and running in just under 10 seconds after the power button is pressed. Also, the pc is super silent even with the two exhaust fans.

I installed Xtreamer firmware on the 600a. but the interface was slow and complicated so reverted back to himedia firmware. also couldn't find the function key. Would like to note that moving between firmwares was a breeze.

The interface of xtreamer firmware is much better than himedia's. But the remote controls may not work correctly. It is always better to stick to the original firmware. You can try some custom firmwares by max which has some additional features under internet. The himedia australian website is also very useful and there I have posted a guide on YAMJ installation which you can try.

today i received my HD900B! great player...plays everything flawlessly!!

i have one query though. i may be doing something wrong but i played 2 test files, one with DTS-HD MA and the other with Dolby TrueHD but the correct light in my AVR did not light up, instead the AVR showed ONLY DTS and Dolby respectively.
please someone guide me so that i can get it going correctly.

i have already set all my audio options to output as RAW.

*my AVR supports both DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD
*the files being played are taken from High Definition Trailers (HD) - Demo World and are in m2ts containers

I have been following this thread for a long time and its about time I made up my mind

I have Denon 1912 AVR, Sony KDL-40CX520 LCD TV.

I was planning to buy Himedia XXX to complement this above setup.

My expectations:
1. No 3D required
2. Support all audio / video formats
3. Support 5.1 channels.
4. Anything else that I have overlooked.
5. Add-on blue-ray disc player support that Detna is providing.

Given this expectation, please guide me on the version of Himedia I should go for.

As per the mail from Reghu of detna, the external bluray drive works well with HD900B and 600B. Since you don't need 3D go for 600B. It is a very good player which I owned a few months back.

You are right, XBMC is awesome. I am working on configuring XBMC on my old Thinkpad. But thats another story!

I guess I will go for the combo of Himedia 600B + BD player offered by Detna.

I want to access the ext HDD attached to 600a from my PC. Both are in the same wired network. I want to move files from my PC to the ext. HDD attached to 600a. Please help me with this.

I opened the ip address of 600a in the browser. But nothing shows up in the Samba list.

I downloaded one each of TrueHD and DTS-MA file from the link shared by you and my Onkyo HTS3300 displayed it correctly. Although it took about 5 seconds to start the audio.

did you try changing the 5.1 and 7.1 options?
if you are using coaxial or optical, it might not work. use HDMI only.

Usually the hdd will appear as a shared device in your windows 7 pc. Try to disable and enable SAMBA in player.

I have got my HD 900B delivered yesterday. I ordered the same through Ebay and it seems detna has shipped it. Recieved the item in 4 days.

I have been using WDTV 2nd Gen so far. Will post my reviews soon

I think all the above use the same chipset and firmware. So there won't be any marginal difference in performance.

Thanks..ordered HiMedia 600F yesterday. The item was shipped y'day iteself and expected delivery today. Very good service by Detna. Raghu was quite helpful and very prompt replies to queries.

anyone know about the support of *.webm files in himedia? I'm using himedia 600 series model and the firmware version is 1.0.4.24. It doesn't play webm files, is there recent firmware has support for this?

This is probably the dumbest post on this thread - i have read 20 odd pages - and i have learnt a lot of jargons (99% have gone over the head though):sad:

anyway - being born in the earlier generation does have its advantages ( get to learn a lot from you tech/ gadget freaks) - admire your ability to get into so much detailing

ok..enough of letting u guys know that i am dumb -- but please help me out in the most simplistic manner if you can

i bought a 600c from detna - raghu and his service is what i would call "the best in the world" - product sent from bangalore to mumbai in 12 hours..fabulous.

the dumb queries are

1. every thing is in chinese ( i am too old to learn chinese now) - so is there a way where i can use all the apps --currently only youtube is being used.

2. is there a simpler thing like what ipad / android has --- ease of use

3. do i need to upgrade the firmware - and if yes, where will i get it from

4. how do i create a network at home - have 2 laptops / 1 ipad / 1 tab / iphone and android phone ---- how do i use media from all these gadgets through the 600c.

5. i have cable internet and a wifi router..how do i network all the gadgets mentioned above with this router

pls reply in simple english - no jargaons plsssss

would appreciate your responses

Last night when watching Inception, with a pop sound my unit went down . There is no chance of any spikes as the player, receiver and projector are connected to online UPS. Will contact Raghu for his help..Hopefully the issue is only with the power adapter.

Update: Raghu has replied to me that he will send a replacement power supply
