I am not sure if i am right kittu sir, as you know i have the panny 3D tv, I had downloaded the Avatar 19GB 3D Blue ray rip MKV file online and the HD600B has no issue playing them on my 3D tv. So I guess it can support 3D.

May be its your intelligent TV converting 2d to 3d:). Having said that , I am still a noob in HD600B try outs. If it supports 3d or mkv3d , I will be more than happy for recommending this product to many here.

No. Its definitly not my Tv. I can not play the normal 2D content in this MVK content. My tv automaticaly detects 3D contents when i play this file and asks me to wear the 3d glasses. And when i try to convert the 3d content into normal 2D in my Tv it splits the screen into 2 halfs and shows the same image on both the saids.

plz i need to purchase a media player, can some one help me here to verify whether 600b plays 3d and we can see the same effect using 3d glasses

The 3d rips were visible in 3d through this media player on my non 3d LCD. Sbs Types.

How good is the player with streaming online contents from youtube etc?

First impressions on 1.0.4.17 Firmware on HiMedia 600B (Upgraded from stock firmware 1.0.2.x):
1. Improved quality of Menu screens and icons.
2. USB listing is improvised.
3. The look of Processing icon (spinning circle) is improved.
4. Youtube problem got resolved. Now I am able to watch videos in full screen.
5. While playing the movie, by clicking 'OK' we can pauses the playback (I don't remember whether this was supported in the stock firmware version)
6. Boot speed is same, not any slower that the original version.
7. I felt its little more stable.
8. Minor improvement in video quality.
9. I felt browser loaded faster.

Only gripe is the firmware upgrades are frequent.

What else I would like to see in future upgrades:
1. Welcome screen looks is so 90's. Like a kids project. First impression is bad, when you see the welcome screen.
2. Safe mode shutdown should be faster (currents takes around 50 - 60 seconds to shutdown)
3. More improvement in video quality (may be this is limitation of Realtek 1185 chipset, my PS3 plays lot of content much better, but the issue with PS3 is format support and Cinavia).
4. Choosing font style for subtitles (does anybody knows about this).

Frequent firmware updates improve player performance and iron out glitches. So they are most welcome.

You are right. The welcome screen is not great. there is not even a Himedia logo.

Yes. I think as the firmware can be repackaged (In Linux environment). We can create a new welcome image (full HD quality with Himedia Logo) and repackage the firmware with new image for our use.

No one has replied this query properly. I'll expand the definition of "best" (not necessarily in the order of preference)

1. PQ
2. SQ
3. Ease of Use
4. Connectivity
5. Online support
6. Capability to play different formats
7. Absence of bugs
8. Prevalence (rather non prevalence) of issues like latency/ hanging etc

Hope others can expand the list (of functions as well as players) I'd like to also include Asus O! Play.

ur answers :)

1. PQ : upto 1080P

2. SQ: FUll DTS HD MA support :yahoo:

3. Ease of Use: very easy to use like normal DVD player :yahoo:

4. Connectivity: Wired LAN and Wifi :clapping:

5. Online support: The local seller is pretty much online most of the time ( Raghu )

6. Capability to play different formats: Pretty much any format ( A review has been done some pages back you should have look )

7. Absence of bugs: Some bugs with ytube and while browsing they should go with new updates.

8. Prevalence (rather non prevalence) of issues like latency/ hanging etc: No hanging problem...sometimes while browsing it might hang rarely but that happens with PC too and looks like bug which should be fixed with updates.

Hope others can expand the list (of functions as well as players) I'd like to also include Asus O! Play. This is much better option than Asus O! Play as this has much more support and is faster than it
